How Do You Say No to Money-Borrowers?

I think it is safe for me to assume that we have been, at some point, needed to borrow money. I know that by the same token we have also been in the place where we are being borrowed money from. But unfortunately not all borrowers are good in keeping their word in terms of returning the money. Once you have expetienced getting the run-around, it makes it hard to lend money again especially to the same person. In this situation, how do you say no? What if the borrower is a family member? What if it is a friend that you have not seen in years? Or are you the type who gives in easily to sob stories? When is enough enough?

I have a sister who is two years younger than me. From time to time, she tells me that some people (we know them both) ask her to lend them money. I have no idea why those people have never asked me about it (but I would never give. If close relatives ask, I will just give them as a gift).

You will know when enough is enough. It will come to you very briskly. Hide your money and tell the borrowers you don't get paid until next week. Either that or just, say no.
