When I was living in America, one of my favorite Thai foods was "Pad Thai." I had all but forgotten it but the other day when I was having coffee the owner of a restaurant next door came out with big bowl of it that he and his wife devoured!
It is a delicious combination of flat noodles, shrimp, crushed peanuts and a great tasting sauce!
It is only about US$1.60 so it's a bit expensive but worth it!

I like noodles only. Here in India we may not get the food you talked about.
