In 1945 the US put flouride in our drinking water supposedly to help combat tooth decay. There was 72% added flouride in water as of 2008. It is now being said to have negative side effects. Read this article for the facts on this issue:

I remember the taste of fluorine in tap water. It was long ago, it has been forbidden in France in 1985 for health reasons, it was considered dangerous for children. It is the first time that I read that it may be partly responsible for bone and lung cancers. It is toxic anyways. I see that Spain is in the list of countries using fluoridation : it is authorized but is quite no more used at the request of consumers' associations, only 20% of tap water is still fluoridated in Spain.

They still use it here yes and I how I wish that they did not.
However if enough get to realize the situation and protest as they usually do for most things here then I am almost sure that they will taper it out at least I hope so.

It has lomg been known to be dangerous. Why do you think toothpaste with fluoride in it says not to swallow? I never drink city water from anywhere as I have no idea what kind of things they have added to it.
