When you encounter someone rude do you think what could have happened in their day to make them that way?

Thank you Michelle for this. I would like to know do you wonder why is someone being so rude to everyone that encounters them. I am wondering if they had a fight with someone or someone else put them in a bad mood so they think they will be rude to others. Is that right? No, it isn't but I have to wonder do they realize it was not professional the way they acted to everyone they came in contact with?

Hi Hanni. Having a bad is not an excuse to be rude to someone, most especially if you are not that close to the person.

@mlgen1037 Louise, you have a point. That is true but, there are times that something happens and put people in a bad mood and they do not think of what they are doing so let it all out on those that probably do not deserve it.

@mlgen1037 I had something happen today that I was on the sidewalk and then all of a sudden a car pulled up and sat on all the sidewalk. I was very angry because he did not think of people wanting to get by. So he moved a little and still parked on the sidewalk. What nerve he had. Why should people have to walk in the street to get killed while cars think it is ok to park on the sidewalk. They do that here where I live so much. I am so tired of it.

@Hannihar I agree, Hanni. If I am in that situation, what I will do is just take keep myself away from people in a while and get a breather so that I wont be mean or rude to others. It would be unfair to people to backlash on people just because I am having a bad day or something happened.

Maybe they are in bad mood, or they have bad day.

I sometimes think they do not like their job, or they had a bad mood and want to take it on another person (innocent customer) to feel better.

@Hannihar At the post office I do come across a lot of rude employees. I don't get why. They are paid well and with pension (when they're retired, here).

@infatuatedbby It is not much fun to encounter people in bad moods that treat a customer not so nice. I had that at the post office yesterday. There was only one person to deal with and she has been not so nice before and then been decent. This time she was not very nice.

@infatuatedbby I cannot tell you about that. The sad part when i went to mail something there was only one person and she was not very nice and that is sad. I have also dealt with her at times when she was nice. Who knows what happened with her before she came to work.

I do often wonder about it - I think some people think that if they are having a bad day they have to make sure everyone else has one too

@arthurchappell You have a good point Arthur and I am sure they do not feel any better after they make others feel bad.

@arthurchappell It does make sense. They make others feel bad around them and they laugh about it because they think they are so important to do this to others.

Could be that they are having a bad day, but they shouldn't take it out on innocent people.

@DianneN You have a point there Dianne but human beings do not always think before they speak.

@DianneN I am also guilty of not thinking before I speak at times too and other times I just shut up.

They're letting their temper get the best of them + involving other people. I feel sad for them.

@moichan That is true. It is hard to feel good when you are feeling frustrated about something and especially something that you did not do but are suffering from it.

@moichan I am very frustrated because this person at the post office by me must have done something because when I mailed three things only one got to its destination. Now, I have to resend again what I sent before.

I do try to think about it this way and try to cut them some slack. However if they are that way all the time then I start to wonder what went wrong in their life to make them be like this instead of what happened recently. Even if we have a bad day we should never take it out on others.

That is very mature thinking Hanni. I am at once likely to be reactive and then reflect. Usually, such things don't happen so I guess my reflexes are programmed like that. I am usually too stunned and embarrassed to react promptly. Not that quick witted for retaliating to harshness. Fun is different thing.

@just4him I hate rude people. Someone told me once maybe someone is in a bad mood because something happened to them so started to think about it.

there are some road rages here in my country and i just watched one on Facebook. it cannot be explained if the person who is in bad mood has recently been called attention to. they are rude and disrespectful.

Maybe they are going through rough times and frustrated enough that they don't have realization of what and how rude they are going

Being rude always isn't good at all.it hurts others badly.I can say if the person is close to us we should think from their perspective.if they had a bad day or something else.
