Two Graduations, Two Conferences, and a Lot of Driving!

After a few crazy weeks, things will be calming down for our family now. In the past three weeks, I traveled with my husband to two business conferences and we also attended two family graduations. We never had more than two days between events, so it was pretty exhausting. However, we got through it all, saw a lot of our family, and had a great time. Now I'm looking forward to getting back to normal and enjoying a little peace and quiet before our next family trip in a month! The photo above shows the students at the Cal Poly University graduation for one of our granddaughters. We were so proud of her, and she is headed to St. George's University in Granada in two months to start veterinary school. A new adventure for her!

Yeah, but you forgot to stop by and see me while you and hubby were doing all that running around! I'm happy to know everything went well and you are safely home again... Maybe the next trip won't be quite so crazy!

@DaddyEvil - I certainly hope it is not as crazy. Our next trip is not for another month, and we will just be visiting my brother-in-law in Northern California where he lives a fairly quiet life. That should be much more relaxing!

Seeung them and having a lot to do is not that often. For your part, at least you got to see them and enjoyed it. Now is the resting part.

@DeborahDiane for sure, now you can rest after all the travels and party you attended. Or maybe not becasue you have to do laundry after.

In May of 1980, my sister and brother both graduated from college, on the same day, and not at the same universities. Fortunately, my sister graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in San Marcos Texas - that's about 30 minutes from Austin, and my brother was graduating from the University of Texas in Austin. There was about 90 minutes between the two ceremonies, and after attending my sister's we drove up to be at my brother's. I had @Maggiepie with me and then the folks collected my sister and we all got up to Austin before my brother's.

@DeborahDiane yeah, we like to tease our brother, who is the eldest, that even my sister graduated from college before he did!

@ElicBxn - Wow! That kept you busy that day. One of our daughters went to Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, so I know exactly how far San Marcos is from Austin. I'm glad it all worked out!

This is indeed a very busy few weeks but why not fly instead of driving?

@id_peace - All of the places we went were not quite far enough to make it worthwhile to fly. The furthest we went was only about 250 miles. One place was 70 miles away and another was 120 miles. It was time consuming and meant a lot of driving, but no flying. The next two trips we take are further away, and we will be flying.

@DeborahDiane I bet she is. St Georges has one of the steepest hills ever. I hope she has learnt to dive as there is some fantastic opportunities for diving especially if she wants to specialise in marine biology. You should be ok for Cinnamon and other spices as it is known as the spice island. The Grenadians are very friendly people How exciting for her! If only we could turn the clock back and do it all again eh! It is so exciting for young people the opportunities available to them! .

@garymarsh6 - I agree! I would love to live life all over again. I did not know the island is known as the spice island. She has not learned to dive, but I will suggest she take some classes and get certified. That is a great idea! We look forward to visiting her there!

Glad you had a great time despite all of the travelling. We have a similar few weeks coming up. Next weekend I have to travel to Newcastle to move my daughter's stuff out of her flat as her lease has expired. The following Wednesday we travel to Scotland to start our walking holiday which will see us travel to Scotland, back to England, then to Wales and back to England. The weekend after we return from holiday it's back to Newcastle to move my daughter into her new flat. Finally, a few days after that I'm back in Newcastle for my daughter's graduation. Families eh??

@DeborahDiane Cheers! It should be fun if the weather remains clear and bright. We're walking up the three highest peaks in the UK, Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales. I don't want to get to the top to be immersed in cloud!!

@DeborahDiane Congrats on the graduations and you must be very proud of them. There is no place like home after so much traveling. So, where are you going in a month and for how long?

@Hannihar - Next month we are going to Northern California to a town which is about 700 miles from here to visit my brother-in-law who has been seriously ill. We will be there for a week. About three weeks after we get back, we will go to Delaware to visit our daughter and her family, including our newest grandbaby.

@Hannihar - My brother-in-law will not recover. It is too advanced. However, if he starts to take better care of himself, he could live years longer, so that would be good. We will definitely fly to Delaware. It is 3000 miles from here! We look forward to that trip!

@DeborahDiane That is so nice that you can do those things and so so sorry about our brother-in-law. I hope he recovers or do they think he will not? Are you going to fly to Delaware or drive?
