The Democrats have promised to pass legislation raising the minimum wage gradually, in three increments, to $7.25 by 2009. Do you agree that the minimum wage should be raised, or do you feel that it is high enough.
Those for an increase often argue that a person working a full 40 hour week on minimum wage would live below the poverty line.
Those against often argue that raising the minimum wage places undue burdens on businesses to pay workers more than they're worth, cutting into profits and earnings and decreasing efficiency.

I think that it definatly should be raised. More often than not if you are working a minnimum wage job you likely aren't going to even get 40 hrs./week. If the employer doesn't want to pay a descent wage then they really don't want people to work for them. Trying to live on $5.15/hr. is next to impossible. You can't afford to do much other than survive. You will not be able to afford health care, you likely won't be able to eat well, and you might as well forget owning an automobile(between the cost of fuel, maintenace, and insurance).
I understand that it will put more of a burden on business owners, but I also think that if a person chooses to work for a living that they should be given a descent chance at supporting themselves and their family. If you can't afford to live on what you make working what is the point of working?
