I don't drink. So help me start!

I don't drink alcohol. I had a wine cooler when I was 22 because I had gone four days without sleep, and it seemed like a good idea (one doesn't make good decisions when one has had no sleep for 4 days). I also inadvertently had a strawberry daiquiri that I thought was non alcoholic, but wasn't. I certainly didn't feel differently.
So at the ripe old age of 37 I'm going to go to out with some friends soon and have a drink. Give me some suggestions, please. I'd prefer not a ton of sugar, but I'm open to anything.

Vodka and club soda with lime or lemon has minimal sugar but not much flavor. I'm a huge fan of mojitos which are made from rum, lime juice, simple syrup, club soda, and mint. I've had the bartender at the local hangout make mine with Splenda instead of simple syrup (sugar syrup) to cut down on calories. Mojitos are light and refreshing.

Something like a Vodka Gimlet is good. and doesn't have too much sugar..it is basically vodka, lime juice and soda. The Mojito like NJ Chicca mentioned, is good as well.

I think it's very bad habit my friend.. and hurts the liver, you better take distance from this.

You are very fortunate, that you are far from this habit. The people who have this habits are running after doctors to rectify this problem. Why do you think it is important. If you love yourself you will not harm you but instead look for beautiful things, which you will enjoy mentally and physically. Good luck.

sip and don't drink much until you get used to a little over several different times. i would advice. don't need to get embarrassed like i did first few times i drank. i no longer touch it as i became addicted about 30 yrs. ago for a while. not good. plus i take meds that don't allow it and besides, i walk around like i am drunk already

@AmbiePam back in my early 40's before i ever drank often, i had a Pina Colada once while out with friends eating. it was the best thing i think i ever drank. anyway not being used to it , i was pretty tipsy for several hours.

I only like the sweeter tasting drinks. I have not had a drink for a long time.

I don't know if you are planning to have just one drink, but if you are planning on drinking more, I strongly suggest you drink a bottle of water in between. Because the cause of a hangover is one gets dehydrated and by drinking water in between, less likely you would get sick.

I don't drink. I suggest a soda. I think there's a new one that doesn't have a lot of sugar in it. My drink of choice is water. Sorry I can't be more help.
