A visit to the ER

United States
June 22, 2018 8:02am CST
I know a lot of us have been to the emergency room at least once in our life. But if has been a while since you have gone, here is what you would most likely expect. First you walk in and go to the main desk. They ask you what brings you to the er today? You give them a brief description and have a seat. A few minutes later pending on how busy it is, you go to registration. That is where they take you insurance information and give you a wrist band. Then you wait. Sometimes its fast, other times there is a long drawn out wait. And if an emergency case comes in via ambulance, they are first priority. I will continue this in my next post. Photo credit: google

I've seen billboards along the interstate that show how long the waiting time is in a nearby hospital's ER. I'm amused by the ones that say "two minutes." Ha, at the VA hospital it takes two minutes to get someone's attention so they can tell you it's going to take 20 minutes to find someone it'll take you an hour.

Thats why so many don't bother to go even if they really need to. I know a lot who wait until the Dr office opens

Hi @Metsrock69. I never really like going to the hospital except when it is needed. But what happened? Are you the one going to the ER?

I have been in the ER so many times with my daughter. It is in a small town so when we go in there is no taking of info. They just tell us what room to go to, it is nice not to have to wait forever.

I've been to the ER twice this year, the second one was recent. Yes, they need to ask some question first like what happens to you and how do you feel. They will have you sign some papers when you already have a record of it because you are a regular patient. Then get your weight and your BP. Almost same thing. Why don't they accommodate the patient first by giving the first aide? Like give oxygen or have them lay down first.
