Depression, Migraines, and Life

I haven't been around too much lately. I've been in a funk that's hard to get out of. I've been getting migraines nearly every day again (which means the muscle relaxers I've been taking are no longer helping like they used to -- it was nice while it lasted,) and all the horrible crap going on in the world has been making me feel very, very depressed. I would like to just tune out the news, but turning a blind eye to the atrocities taking place does not make them magically disappear.
On top of that, I've been having some kind of allergic reaction to...something, over the last two months, but I haven't been able to figure out what. My eyelids are red, itchy, and swollen. I have been taking Benadryl and it's helped relieve some of my symptoms, but not entirely. I have an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday so hopefully she can prescribe something to treat it. The Benadryl on top of my other meds have been making me feel very drowsy so I have been sleeping a lot.
Nothing else is new with me. I'm walking on my own again (I broke my ankle in March) but I have a bad limp. Never did hear anything about physical therapy. Still haven't gotten a date for surgery to treat my endometriosis. So nothing new to report in that department.
Hope everyone is doing okay and managing to stay cool. It's supposed to hit 106 F here this weekend. I hate the summer.

Being in pain can make depression worse. I hope you can get your physical issues taken care of soon. I am here right now due to a rare episode of insomnia.

Thank you. I will talk to my neurologist next week about the migraines worsening and see what my options are. I've lived with them since I was two years old so it's just a fact of life for me. I also have fibromyalgia and pain definitely does worsen my depression. I should probably make an appointment with my therapist soon.
I am sorry you are experiencing insomnia. I am a chronic insomniac. I can sleep fine during the day but at night, I am wide awake. I hope you're able to get some rest tonight.

I hope the doctor will find a reasonable treatment for you. I hope you get better soon. It is also very hot here. I don't like summer either.

@Srbageldog Yes, I think so, so I stay in the air conditioning room and don't go out.

@caopaopao I do the same unless I have to go out. I feel bad for people who have to work outside in the heat.

I haven't been here much either since the beginning of May.. least, not in the posting, and reading every discussion by others way that i was before. But haven't seen you around when I have read recent posts, and got worried.
So sorry the muscle relaxers aren't helping your migraines anymore. :(
And sorry about the funk / depression. I know exactly how you feel, all too well and it sucks.
I hope things turn around for you soon, and that you figure out what the reaction is too.

Thank you. I'm sorry you are also dealing with depression.
I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday, so hopefully she can prescribe me something to try to get the weird reaction on my eyelids under control. It looks like eczema, but I still have no idea what's causing it. Maybe dust?

Benadryl makes me depressed so I take it sparingly.
Its finny how some of us hate Winter and others hate summer.
Feel better soon!

I have to consistently take Benadryl or else my symptoms flare back up. I missed a dose earlier and woke up with swollen, red, itchy eyelids. I could technically take it every 4 hours instead of every 6, but I don't want to take too much on top of all my other meds. I'm hoping my doctor will prescribe me something that I can take less often.
I think it depends how extreme the seasons are where you live. If we had freezing, miserable winters, I would probably hate them. We have extremely hot summers which always come with wild fires, so a big chunk of the state ends up burning and the air quality is bad. Today the sky is overcast with smoke from three different fires up north. Which also might be contributing to my allergies.

Thank you. I do have things that make me happy. And my problems are small compared to what some people in the world are going through.

@Srbageldog I wouldn't compare a personal situation to others, sorry.
Wish you the best friend.

Wow. I don't know what to say. Everything you mentioned are real legit reasons to be down. I used to live on Benadryl so much it no longer made me sleepy. They couldn't figure out what made me break out in a rash and itch up a storm so for about four years I should have bought stock in Benadryl. Then, one day, it stopped, and I don't know why.
With your migraines, your hatred for summer, and your migraines, I feel your pain. Yet mine isn't nearly as bad as yours. I can't imagine endometriosis on top of all of that.

I really have no idea what's causing my eyes to break out like this. I haven't even been wearing eyeliner like I used to always do. The only time I've ever had my eyelids break out in a rash was when I was allergic to cheap eye shadow, but I haven't been wearing any sort of makeup. It's so...odd. Nothing new has been introduced into my environment...maybe my doctor can send me for allergy tests or something to try to figure it out. It's hard to remove whatever it is from my environment when I don't know what it is.
The summer heat is a big trigger for my migraines, which is one reason why I hate it. I feel like my life revolves around attempting to prevent migraines. I am hoping that I'll have some relief from my endometriosis symptoms once I have surgery.

@Srbageldog My migraines are worse in the summer too. I have started taking 8Greens as soon as I feel one coming on, and it helps. But if I don't catch it right when I know it's a migraine, I'm in trouble. After all these years of migraines, something helps.
I hope they send you for allergy tests. It only makes sense. That's just miserable.

My husband had migraines every day (and night) for almost a full year, one day as they came they disappeared. The doctor told him all the time that the stress and the depression were the main causes of his headaches. I hope you can relax and find a solutions to your problems.

@Srbageldog I have suffered from migraines for many years, after I went into menopause my migraines have stopped and my life is so much better. I wish you to find a way to get rid of this.

I'm sorry your husband also suffered from migraines. I have been getting them since I was two years old. They have interfered a great deal with my life. Some of my depression I believe stems from constantly having migraines and not being able to function like a "normal" person.
Thank you for the good thoughts.

Thank you. I'm sorry it's still cold where you are. I wish the weather would stay mild all year round, without either extreme temperatures.
