India

I think these days all of us are aware of Solar Energy and its uses and in the coming years it would be of max usage as it has many benefits and it will help us in competing our requirement of power and electricity as these days its even impossible to imagine without Electricity as most of things for our daily use need power like Mobile, Laptop, PC and other such things and these days even cooking is dependent on Electricity. I have heard that some are already utilizing the solar power and lights and slowly its gaining popularity in India as well. What are your views about it? Do You think Solar Power And Lights Be The Next Big Thing? Please share.

its funny since solar energy was an option before coal based energy. the people in charge chose coal because they could make a profit selling coal; whereas, they couldn't charge people for sun use.

Yes I think so. I used to have a solar power bank, and it's really nice.

Many years ago, people here used solar water heaters. Now many of the lights in our city streets are making use of solar and wind.

It needs to be further perfected. Costly and unreliable and panels cause house fires.

I think that solar power and lights should be used in order to preserve electricity. It is better that way.

A third of my house has solar off grid power ( lighting only) for almost 4 years now, I interchange it with regular lighting and lights we leave on at night. We also have light incase of power outtages. Solar panels are cheap, it's the deep cycle batteries that's quite expensive, battery and power storage is what's hindering the use of solar energy

Yes I think as the panels get cheaper it will become more popular. The city I used to live in has an 1000 year old cathedral which has become the oldest building in the world to have solar power. "An English cathedral built in the 11th century has become the oldest building in the world to have solar panels installed. Despite its 1,000 years of history, Gloucester Cathedral was keen to embrace modern technology and is having 150 panels fitted on its roof."

I hope so too, it will surely be expensive in the initial stages but will gradually be cheaper sometime soon

No, they won't. Lack of better batteries to store energy is the main issue.
