Who would have thought?

Apparently I have BOWLERS HIP! I decided, before I descend upon a doctor and he tells me what I already know, I would put my symptoms on the web and see what the pannel of general doctors say. Every sport has its injuries and in my case playing lawn bowls seems to have given me a little pain in the left hip. (a very common injury in bowling) I noticed it a few weeks before we went to the National tournament but thought I had just overworked my gluteus maximus with all the bending. I had an anti-inflammatory shot and it went away for a while, but the last two weeks have been quite painful. So it seems it happens from overworking the joint, or arthritis or an injury - all can be treated and hip to be rested. So I am taking a week off my bowling and resting this HIP because I have BIG plans for it in the future. I still have a few hundred lighthouses to explore! Today is the first day of winter holidays for our school children in the southern hemisphere and I plan to have my grandsons around for a few days to spoil them. Have a sunshine day everyone!

This is the first time I heard of Bowler's hips. I know of Tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, frozen shoulder, tendinitis, bursitis but not bowler's hips. I hope you will recover soon from this so you can enjoy your bowling and your travel. The photo is soooooo nice and lovely.

Sorry to read about your "bowling hip". Now, that your husband is officially retired, you can "delegate" him for doing your physical work at home for a while.

Good to see you again Lany, but sorry you are having hip trouble. I hope the rest cures it, but if not, hip replacements are available now. I've had one of mine done, and the other will need doing soon too.

You have had quite a hectic last few months Lany so it is good that you are going to take a little bit of a break. Enjoy your grandchildren staying with you. They will wear you out too so no rest for you really!

I hope rest will be enough to get your hip fit enough for all the things you have planned for it. There are some nice lighthouses in Tasmania if you are ever down that way.

Just don't overexert too much effort using the hips so it can get rested. I hope it can be rested well and get better.

Moderation is the key, when we feel pain, it means that our body "had too much". Rest for a week and do not bowl too much in the future.

I'm so sorry you have Bowlers Hip. I hope rest will be the cure all for it and you'll be back exploring lighthouses again soon, and bowling.

Oh that is too bad that your hip is not cooperating with your fun! 100's more lighthouses is an important goal.
