"Good Touch and bad touch"

There is an urgent need to educate kids about those who take advantage of their ignorance and that could include their father, brother, uncles, grandpa, neighbour, cousin - yes any unsuspecting male they know very well.
These incidents are rampant in India and could be so elsewhere too. Apart from educating kids about bad touch and good touch the public is advised to report the matter to the police.
The question is will anyone report if the culprit if it happens to be the father or brother?
Your views please.

I agree with you, educating kids must be done,.. we do have many cases here like rape and the suspect or culprit is their family member or relatives also.

@allknowing I watched something like this on news, a teen got pregnant because of this, that's why they come to know about the culprit and caught him. Maybe the teen was scared so she didn't tell anyone even her mother, but because she got pregnant she can't keep it as a secret forever.

@Jessabuma This is a hit and miss method. There should be a full proof method.

We really should educate girls to learn to protect themselves.

@allknowing No, the school has never done such a job. Parents may teach their children some knowledge of this.

I think that most kids do not dare to talk about their bad experiences, especially if those involved are part of the family. It is important to explain to the children that they must not be shy, they have to report if something they dislike is happening.

Here in India this is a hot topic and this has already started in schools. What I think is it is the parents specially the mother of the child should initiate this conversation.

@LadyDuck When a child has an issue as you said they do display signs of restlessness and the mother should take notice of that and bring out what the child is hiding.

@allknowing I agree, the mother must let the children know that they must never be shy and be alert. I think that a mother should notice when a kid has a problem and is afraid to talk.

@rakski But has any kid reported? This is important as then we know the child knows the difference between a bad and good touch.

I feel that its always been the norm to talk to our children as this is not a new issue but an ages old one. With education comes the openness and ability to report anyone or any incident, and in most countries the social services is very good at assisting in these issues.

Do you know of any kids that have complained against those close relatives who have tried to molest them. This is what is the most difficult and that is for kids to complain about those who love them.

It is important to be aware of such things especially as they relate to vulnerable young children, Children have to feel safe and know that they will be listened to if they report it.

There are many cases where the child abuser was a relative. How does one "educate" a child whose natural instinct is to trust those closest to them? It is only after they have been traumatize when such molestation are discovered if at all. Very often because it would cause shame to the family, such incidents are covered up.

@allknowing _I have read about child brides and bride burning in India but this is the first about abused children being murdered by their own relatives. Perhaps we should not be surprise such practice exist in male-dominated hierarchy.
So it's the girl-child's fault that tempted the male relative? Is this also done if the child was a male in a homosexual relationship with another but older male relative?. How about if the child was a male child and the abuser was an older FEMALE relative?
