I do feel so sorry for the dogs but then I remember the look of being pleased on their faces when they had escaped, that they showed me! I just heard Roscoe yelp after getting into the fence, I am not sure why he is doing it, he knows the fence is on. Yesterday when I cut it off and fed them he was happy but the moment I turned it back on, with him not watching, he have me a look. I think he can hear it. I am thinking maybe a week should do the trick and I will turn it off again, leave it off. Harley? I heard him once when he tried to get out, the same night that it was turned back on, I have not heard him again. I do feel bad about it but I would feel worst if he got ran over or shot again and he died. Ya know where I got the idea to put in an electric fence? @uncleJoe told me he kept his kids in one and they never escaped How is your last Tuesday of June going?

Our dog was always up to mischief as well and he was always with a happy look on his face when he did it. Great that your dogs are safe now and hope they continue to be so. Lovely dogs as well.

If it keeps kids in, I may need to give it a try. We do use on for our dog Bo, he would get run over fur sure on our road because he LOVEs to run cars. He is a hunting dog I guess he thinks they are running from him.

My aunt and uncle have this for their dogs because they were getting off their property and they weren't sure were they were going so now they have this and its great. They use it on the other properties too when they bring their dogs with them on trips. Its a great way to keep track of the dogs for sure.

Dogs have a way of being naughty as children are. It is our role as parents to stop it. You cannot imagine the dirty look that Luna gives me once in a while! But she also knows when she is wrong and goes to her house full of guilt.

@andriaperry One time I could not find her. When I did, I seen her tail first as she backed out of the hole she was digging. If I had not had a wood pallet laying on the outside of the fence she would have been out. When we rebuilt the fence last year I laid part of the old fence on the ground as we went. That has stopped most of that.

The dig holes and sleep in them, why I don`t know, but they don`t try to go under the fence.

Why do you turn it off? isn't the point of having it to have it on so they stay inside? My Tuesday has been good. I had a killer workout at the gym and then took a nice long nap with the cat.

Well you see it runs up the most wonderful power bill! If they are scared to tear the fence down and it worked for about 8 months, I think it`ll work again. Glad you are back to your work outs.

@andriaperry You'd think it wouldn't require that much power. I would turn it on and off intermittently. They will test it periodically.

@NJChicaa Yes that is how I got to the point of leaving it off, I would pretend to turn it off and on, while they watched. They learned if I had my hands up to stand back

I think you're doing the right thing - it's much better than the dogs wandering and getting hurt

@andriaperry Oh scary. True then, the temporary discomfort of the fence is worth it for the safety factor

Don't you think ...that is really very cruel to have such fence for dogs? I would never do such things in my life! Hope they are safe! God bless!

@andriaperry , I am sorry...if they are roaming here and there leaving your place indicates that they are not happy there! That is definitely cruel! Thanks!

Is it cruel to let them roam and get shot? It has happened. Is it cruel to let my dog get in the road and a car hit him? it has happened I think a little zap is better than weeks or months of suffering to get well, if he survive the next time.

I've been lucky with the last 3 pups I've had, They didn't try to escape once I fixed the places where they dug near the fence, turns out they didn't like that chicken wire.
