Moving on again tomorrow

Tomorrow we’ll pack up the caravan and leave Melbourne on our way back to the west of Australia. Our son lives here. We had a week with him before going to Tasmania and we’ve spent the last two evenings visiting as he is back at work now.
We have done a few projects for and with him since we arrived. He still has a leak in a verandah roof which we can’t fix and a tap in the shower keeps dripping. It is really the landlord’s problem but we would have fixed it if it had been possible. However it needs a ‘real’ plumber.
Vince has spent most of today cooking some meals which we’ll put in the freezer tonight when we visit. There should be about nine stir-fry meals – six of beef and six of lamb. He can space them out over a period of weeks so he doesn’t get sick of the same thing over and over. Cooking in the caravan is a bit of a challenge although we have four gas burners and an oven – and a microwave. There isn’t much preparation room. However it’s done now and I’ve washed all the pots and pans and the van is nice and clean again.
I’ll do some washing at our son’s this evening then probably put it in the dryer at the caravan park in the morning before we leave. We’re heading for the Great Coast Road and hope to see the ‘twelve apostles’ which are columns of rock just off the coast. Internet might be hit and miss again for a while.
The photo is of one of the sculptures at William Ricketts Sanctuary, Mt Dandenong, Victoria.

Hi Judy. So nice to be with your son again. You stayed at his house while he is at work?

@mlgen1037 Yes, he rents a very small house and has a house-mate so there is no room for us at his place.

Each time I visit an old aunt I cannot leave her without a piece of tart or cake "for the road" (40 mn). Why parents are thinking that their children are starving without their cooking?
I am spending the weekend in Marseilles and will have a midnight aperitif on a beach.
Have a good trip.

Brendan doesn't cook at all for himself but I don't think he starves. A midnight aperitif on a beach? How nice would that be? but it is much too cold here for that sort of indulgence. And there is supposed to be a storm in the morning.

Have a safe trip back? How far is the distance? Have you ever considered moving closer to your son?

@JudyEv Wow..long ways! It's a bit closer than that from here to California. You might feel differently if you had grandchildren.

It's 3,000 miles from here but we'll be doing it in stages and seeing things as we go. We've never actually thought of moving to Victoria. I guess WA is our home state and I think we're probably better friends if we're not too close by - which is a bit sad. We have a lovely spot where we are.

Are you still enjoying the travelling or are you looking forward to going home? The sculpture is very mesmerising. I couldn't stop looking at it.

@sprite1950 We think we'll be another month on the road before we get home. Perhaps I'll have had enough by then.

@epiffanie Oh, that sounds such a lot of work. I do hope it all goes well. We've been in Adelaide a week with car problems but should be moving on on Tuesday or Wednesday.

William Ricketts, an Australian sculptor, has an area just out of Melbourne, Australia, where he has a lot of sculptures on display.

@suroto I think probably his 'Sanctuary' which we visited and which I wrote about would be his most famous legacy. The link to the other post is:
William Ricketts was born in Richmond, Victoria in 1898. He was a self-trained potter and sculptor who created a Sanctuary in Mount Dandenong where he settled...
