Fresh perked coffee

I love freshly perked coffee. I love the aroma n the morning, it just wakes up the whole place. I purchased this plain aluminum pot because I just wanted a basic pot. It did takes about two weeks of using it to ‘break it in’ to rid the aluminum taste from my coffee. All in all it is fine. My only problem is the over flow when it starts to perk. I have adjusted the flame, tried to keep an eye on it, but sure enough over it goes. Now I wonder if cleaning the entire stove top each morning is worth the good side of perking. I know there are bigger deals going on in the world but it is late and I am running out of ideas to write about.
