How is everyone doing? I am here in Minnesota, it is Tuesday and 11:28PM just finishing up my work day. Cant wait to get some zzz's in a little while here.
Me, my sister and her husband are all tenatively thinking about taking a trip to Arizona this fall. This wont be a spur of the moment trip, but rather a carefully planned trip with lots of hiking and sight seeing. What a must is on my list is : Grand Canyon and Route 66. Flagstaff looks cool as well as Sedona.
The beginning stages of the planning process is overwhelming. But kind of exciting. This will be several months out.
Have you ever been to Arizona? What was a must see or something maybe you felt not worthwhile or overrated? Have you been to Flagstaff or Sedona, or what cities have you visited? I would love to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Otherwise, any trips you have on the horizon?

Been to AZ many many times. You cannot miss Petrified Forest National Park. There's a zillion Indian ruins if that interests you.

Thats when we are planning to go but it will probably still be hotter than the November I am used to here in Minnesota. The Grand Canyon seems stunnig. Am only going for around 4 days. Can you suggest any trails or north rim vs south rim to check out? Or anything else you can think of?

Yes, I have been there but my husband and I only visited Tucson in the Southern part of the State. We were visiting two of his sisters who lived there. We visited in 2010 for 1 week. My husband's sister and her husband took us to Sabino Canyon and to Mt Lemmon. It was a fun trip.

I watched youtube videos about Arizona yesterday to prepare my mind for an article I want to write. Make sure that you visit the painted desert and the petrified forest.
Be careful not to let you or yours take any pieces of petrified wood or other artifacts. People say their lives started to fall apart when they did. The rangers made a big pile of petrified wood and stones that people sent back to try to reverse bad fortune.

is a place we visited years ago when we went through Arizona. I believe it is a national park, so you will have to buy passes. Of course the Grand Canyon is awesome as well.
Visit the world’s best preserved meteorite impact site just minutes from Interstate 40 in Northern Arizona near Winslow. - RV Park - Meteor Crater

Hi maezee!
It's been a while, hope you remember bounceee! Happy 4th!
How have you been? Haven't been here for a while, and I just thought I'd log in -- glad to see that you're still around. Hope everything's going well for you.
No, I haven't been to Arizona - but definitely some US travel plans in the near future for me. Would like to go to ComicCon this month, if I can get off work.

@bounce58 Oh my goodness. Yes definitely. Great memory. I was miserable there. I am now with my 2nd local-ish government job and making at least double of the cleaners pay with a quarter of the stress. Life is good! I wish I could remember what you did, but I am drawing a blank. Are you enjoying your career again? And how is the family?

Hey! hey! Not sure yet if I'm just visiting here, or back in mylot for good - life is good (I think). Went to work somewhere else, but I've been offered to come back to my old job - which I did. Now I have time again to be at myLot, which is what I was doing when I left 4 years ago.
So, are you done with school?
I haven't check all of your recent discussions, but I'm hoping you've quit the cleaners-job already.

We went to Tombstone, Tuscon, Phoenix, Sedona and the Grand Canyon. We stopped to visit the meteor crater in Winslow, it is 37 miles from Flagstaff, I highly recommend it, it is awesome.

My friend goes to Arizona for retreats very hot. My. Cousin lived there a short time and didn’t like the heat much.

Your choice to see the Grand Canyon is worth consideration. Enjoy the journey. Be safe and prepared. Carry plenty of extra gasoline, water and camping and fishing gear. If you get the maps and extra batteries for your cell phones and radios and have two way radios just in case the cell phones don't carry a good strong signal so you and your fellow travelers will be able to keep in touch so nobody gets lost. Nuf said. Enjoy yourseles. Arizona in the Fall certainly is cooler than in the summer.

Never been to Arizona and don't want to go since I don't like deserts at all and that state is far to conservative for me to spend money in anyway.

I’ve been to Arizona with my parents and twice with my husband. I loved Scottsdale the most for its fine dining, fabulous shopping, Native American jewelry, and of course the Stetson hats. Tucson was great for seeing cacti in the parks. We stopped in Flagstaff and Phoenix as well. The Grand Canyon is a must see as are all the major parks.

@DianneN That is the way it is here in Florida. The summers are unbearable. It has been in the high 80's and low 90's this week. I hope it is not going to stay like this all summer. I do stay in the house a lot with the air conditioning on all the time.

At one time we were thinking about moving to Arizona. It was going to be a job transfer. We did research on housing, schools, etc. In the end my job transferred me and my family to Houston, Texas. I never did get the chance to go to Arizona. But from what I've heard it's a nice place to visit or to live. Have a safe and happy trip!!
