With Hot Weather Comes Hot Tempers. How Would You Handle a Road Rage Situation Directed At You?

Have you ever been in a road rage situation? Or have you ever seen a road rage situation unfolding? What got it started? People have been shot at, murdered with a gun or some other weapon. People's vehicles have been damaged by people whose temper was out of control. People have been run off the road into ditches and into buildings or other vehicles all because of someone's impatience and short temper. How would/can you avoid being in a road rage situation?

Don't drive!!! Haha! Serious note, the other day while going home a burgandy car skipped stopping at a stop sign, failed to yield to right of way traffic... And almost slammed into us. My husband had guessed correctly they wouldn't stop ( they were speeding down a road well above legal limit) so he slowed down on the highway and swerved to avoid having them run into our side. ..... I flipped them off. They kept going, weaving in and out of traffic. Good thing they didn't run into us. The thought alone had me want to beat them up. Normally, I'm a very go with the flow kind of person. This idiot driver almost killed my kids and I. They were also on their phone which is illegal. Just be respectful and follow the laws concerning the operation of a vehicle and road rage shouldn't be an issue

Yes, I absolutely agree with you Robin. We don't want to add fire to the fuel. You've mentioned two good things to do to keep us from being victims of road rage: ".....be respectful and follow the laws concerning the operation of a vehicle and road rage shouldn't be an issue."

Yes, that can be very bad situation! all we need to have a cool temperament! I had my vehicle got scratched from wrong side. i pulled my Vehicle to my side to stop that young man driving the Car! He got bit nervous to see me getting down from my Van and walking to wards him. I simply went to him and put my hand on his shoulder and told him in plain words that life is precious and don't waste it to lose in such accidents and his parents must be having lot of hopes from him for his bright future and came back to drive my seat. He was standing blank there till I lost is images from my rear view mirrors! Life is like that! We need to act cool to tackle a situation to avoid bloodshed!

@itslikethistome , Yes, I agree with you what you have said! Fortunately we don't have that bad situation in India, though such incidences occurred in the the past a few times! I got down to explain the boy as it was a highway which was busy and the time was afternoon! In broad daytime I don't think anybody would shot at me or run over me! Yes, chances of kidnapping, robbing and beaten up also get reduced because of these two factors I mentioned above! But having read your response, overall, I think we should be careful and act smartly in such situations especially when it is night time! Thanks!

it's really not that serious to have to wait in traffic, or if someone pulls out infront of you, but unfortunately there are people who think it is. I don't drive, and don't ever plan to because of the awful people who 1 don't know how to drive, and 2 have road rage. don't even like being a passenger. unfortunately, have to be one to get to drs and stores, etc.

@Courtlynn you are so on point. It's really not that serious or critical to have to wait in traffic or when someone recklessly pulls out in front of you causing you to slam on your brakes, and almost causing an accident with your vehicle and their's. Its simply not that serious. It's crazy driving on any kind of a road (freeway, highway, dirt road, paved inner city street), no matter where you drive there will always be that one or more persons who will drive in a bullish type fashion. You say you're not driving well you're not missing anything sis. Yes even being a passenger in someone else's vehicle can be stressful as well because you don't know if the person whos driving you to your destination might snap and play cat and mouse with a road rager!? Phew! And where are the state troopers? They are never around when you need them seems like.

Danna it must be scary to see road rage about to take place. You were definitely courageous in telling the person that "it's not worth it". People don't think of the consequences of their violent actions and behavior while engaging in road rage until it's to late. Fines, tickets, court appearances, higher insurance premiums, jail time or worse a six foot burial plot waiting for you.
