Frustrating billing mistakes

At the time my husband was getting all the treatments associated with his prostate cancer he had two insurances. He had Medicare, plus his company insurance. We just got a bill on Saturday for treatment (expensive treatment) he received in March 2017, while covered by two insurances. Before he sees the doctor today, we are going to that different town to straighten them out, again. We have been through this one other time over bills from that time frame. He does not want to do it by phone, as it is too easy to put him off. We are going in person.

just makes me mad when that happens. someone has not done their job right costing us time and money. i know how you feel. its like the left hand don't know what the right is doing or they are trying to get away with money you might not miss. etc.

Yes, well this is for a treatment that he had to repeat, as someone messed up and did not get his cancer treatment started soon enough. They paid for one time. The clinic claims that they did not have the numbers to bill for the second one. Grrr.

@GardenGerty that makes no sense. a couple years ago, i went for a scan and they had to reschedule because their machine stopped working. a month later i got it done. then my insurance refused to pay 2 bills. come to find out they had tried to charge for the time i didn't get a scan. they finally straightened it out. its like you don;t have enough to worry about. now you have to double check every bill

Good idea to go in person. I hope it gets resolved quickly.

It is not getting resolved, both the insurance agency and the Medicare are refusing to pay. The clinic says we owe close to $4000 even though he was covered. We may see if the VA will help.

Our PCP says that if they do not bill in a timely manner we should not owe it. It was for something insurance or Medicare should have covered.

Having to deal with billing issues regarding insurance is probably better done in person

I hope it works out in your favour. The American medical industry is a disgrace.

@GardenGerty I'm sorry to hear that. The more that I see of our insurance system, the better that single payer system looks.

@GardenGerty You did not need that. You have enough to deal with. Good luck and hope it all gets worked out.

We needed to pick up some paperwork there for another purpose, so we got that at least.

Sorry to hear that, I have been down that road before. I got billed twice for one visit to the hospital. It took a couple of months to get it straightened out.

This is a bill for a certain cancer treatment, received in January of 2017. It had to be done twice, once in November 16 and then in Jan. 17 because this clinic messed the start date of radiation up as well. It has been a bad experience in many ways.
