I'm taking about a rainbow of colors of fruits and vegetables of course. My understanding is that a rainbow of colors in fruits and vegetables will lead to a healthier you.
I have been trying to eat a colorful plate of food so I can be more energetic and healthier. Actually when you think about it not only is it good for you but nicer to look at.
A rainbow of fruits and vegetable make such a nice display that it is hard not to enjoy them. Oh, I still love my sweets and my starches but you know what? The sweetness in the fruits seems sweeter now that I don't eat candy and such.
It really is quite easy to put together a colorful plate of food. The more colorful the better. It seems that the blending of colors give you the nutrients you need on a daily basis.
I am putting a positive spin on eating this way but you know what? The cartoon I used for this article sure does speak to me.

I guess Skittles do not count as eating the rainbow.

That's immediately what I thought when I read Susan's post. I thought, "wow, I wish I could taste the Skittles rainbow right now!" lol

Oh no, you're a candy corn addict? just kidding.
I love anything tomato, like salsa, spaghetti sauce and so on. I love adding frozen mixed veggies to my sauce which to me adds the greens and yellows and of course the white is the pasta ..... there, I have my colorful pot o food.

I will admit that I don't eat enough vegetables. I'm horrible at it. I seem to focus too much attention on fruits, and not enough on vegetables. And I don't know why either, because I enjoy vegetables (even spinach and broccoli).

@HazySue That's true, I did grow up hating vegetables! Well, with the exception of corn. I remember as a kid always wanting to eat corn. The funny thing is, when I was a teenager I worked at a grocery store, and it was during that time that I discovered my love of vegetables. I was always bringing home new vegetables to try, and asking my mom to cook them for me. She must have been scratching her head wondering why I developed a love of vegetables all of a sudden!

I don't really understand the cartoon (what is candy corn?) but we do try to follow the 'eat a rainbow' idea. I guess Government advice is not totally useless!
Not long ago I bought some grapes that were in the reductions section of the supermarket, they were a variety called 'cotton candy'. Never tried them before but thought I'd give them a go - they were horrid! None of us liked them, and I tried them out on various visitors and they didn't like them either! Have you tried those?

@HazySue I know it is very difficult for people to cut them out when they decide to do so. For me, it isn't a big deal because they don't really appeal to me. I think I have ice cream maybe once or twice a year. . . ice cream cake at birthday parties. Candy--never. If we are at a really nice restaurant, I *might* order creme brulee or tartufo for dessert but there's only like a 25% chance of that happening.
For me, it is more difficult to cut back on things like bread, potatoes, cheese, etc. Carbs and dairy. So I try to fill the plate with mostly protein and colorful vegetables and occasionally include a starch like potato or rice.

I can across her on one of the sites that have freed pictures you can use. I love her myself. I am just saying that if you fill you plate with different colors of fruits and vegetables you will receive all of the vitamins and nutrients to make a healthy body, Grapes, peppers, oranges, apples of various colors, purple cabbage, kiwi, some of everything.

That cartoon is pretty funny mostly because I can relate to it.
I do like a variety of fruits and veggies and my meals look more enticing when it's colorful
