Plastic Straw ban good for the environment bad for the disabled.

Plastic Straw had been one of the worst pollutant of the environment. Sea turtles and other marine animals died after eating them because they got mistaken for jellyfish.
Starbucks want to get rid of straws altogether and want the customers to just sip their drink.
Mcdonald's will replace plastic straws with paper straws. Many paralyzed and disabled people protested because plastic straw is their only way to drink. Metal straws and bamboo straws don't bend so it may cause accidents. In case of paper straws they melt on hot beverages.
What do you think should be the solution?
I remember Japan developed biodegradable plastic made of corn oil. Whatever happened to that.

Straws are needed for sanitary reasons. I would not want to sip an open container at Starbucks because of crap in the air then gets into a drink. You want to drink a beverage without lid or straw when there's sneezing kids sitting behind you? There were paper straws before plastic and that's a right solution. To be blunt, the disabled are a tiny tiny percentage of the customer base and just have to suck it up for the greater good just like the majority have to suck it up for many things.

I wonder if the wheat stem straws will work for them. They seemed to be more durable than paper.

@CaptAlbertWhisker Those were made with natural wheat stems, "hay straws". I attach a photo.
We used them until I was a teenager, before that horrible plastic invaded the world.

For some reason they prefer throwing them away. I guess it is extra work for them to recycle these straws.
