We Need Rain!

We're currently in the "dog days of summer", and her in North Carolina, it's been sweltering hot, with highs in the 90s most days. There have been a handful of cooler days (mid-80s, which is still pretty hot, but by comparison, it feels fine), but the main problem is that we haven't had enough rain. That never sounds like a problem until you see the parched lawns and think about the farmers, and then there's the threat of fires, as well--if the forests and fields get dried out, any small fire could catch and spread, which is the problem they are having in the western U.S.
We have had an occasional thunderstorm pass through, but it's not enough. What we really need is an all-day (or all-night, preferably), soaking rain. The sunny weather might look pretty, but I never want to see the lake near my house get shallow again--it has happened before, and it's a terrible sight.

Well, here in central NC we got plenty of rain last night. We wound up with flash flood warnings. The thunder and lightning crashed and sizzled all night long. Did you get any in your area of the state?

Quite a bit! We needed it so badly, I was happy to have it. We basically had a "trough" that sat over us for several days, with scattered showers the whole time.

I would love it! In the US, part of the country is flooded while other parts are having wildfires. It would be wonderful to be able to get the water from the flooded areas and give it to the dry areas!

It can get pretty uncomfortable. One thing about the lack of rain is that at least it's not so humid!

Oh, no doubt--it's July, so I fully expect crazy temps. But the lack of rain makes me feel bad for the plants.

We are in the monsoon season and this time dome areas reel under floods.
Hope that you do get your rains soon...The farmers do need it
