Would you buy a book of quotations?

I came across a book of quotations while I waited for my number to be called at the thrift store today. The book was written around 2005. You should see above one of the quotes / suggestions that was written within.
I didn't buy the book though I think it was only 75 cents. I was tempted though but then there's really only so much you can do with a book like this. I also saw a sherlock holmes quote book. I didn't get it either, but I am tempted to get it if it's there the next time I go (provided I remember).
I have bought quote books in the past but I end up just letting them sit there with no real purpose. I did end up getting rid of the ones I had though. Now that Sherlock Holmes that I would buy and read over and over again.
Do you buy books with quotes in them?

The first one I ever bought was one I found at a Salvation Army. It was love quotes and I thought it was cute. This was also during the "honeymoon phase" of mine and the Big Exes (the husband) relationship.
I bought my my a vellum book of quotes that she could use in her crafting. I got it back when she passed away and I think it's somewhere around here.

I love reading quotes online as well. Buying them in book form seems to be such a waste unless you know you'll read them over and over again. I might even buy the quote printed on a throw, mug or t-shirt.

@Marilynda1225 Especially mugs for me. I have two mugs that say "Keep Calm and _ _ _ _ or _ _ _ _" one says "make tea" and the other says "Call mom".
Of course we don't really need mugs here, there are plenty. I can't resist getting some when they are cheap and have cute pictures or sayings on them.

That is not a bad idea. The place I went today sells blank journals with pretty covers. You can get the same things elsewhere but they are more expensive. I like the idea of using one of those to put quotes in and look back on when you are feeling blue or needing inspired.

I feel like you find more that way including quotes from other cultures that have been translated into English.

Yes there are so many quotes that are easily available on the internet, there's no need to buy them now.

@ScribbledAdNauseum , yes that is why I have reduced purchasing the books now except for the local author's fictions!

@ScribbledAdNauseum I used to write my favorite quotes in a notebook. I think that I still have that notebook in one of the boxes. Some quotes are very inspiring.

@Porcospino I agree. I love Robert Frost "The woods are lovely, dark and deep but I have promises to kepe and miles to go before I sleep." I've never actually read the book associated with this.
Then there's Emily Dickinson's poem about not living in vein. I love that.

@arthurchappell I have "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" in paperback form. I think I picked it up for cheap several years ago. I'd like to get it with a thicker cover at some point.
As an aside, My favorite T.v. Adapation is the one where Jeremy Brett was Sherlock.

I will probably end up getting the sherlock one if it's still there. I'm a big fan of the works. I saw a sturdier volume of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's works as well I may nab next time.

@CookieMonster46 I used to have the same problem. Now I only keep books I will read and get rid of the ones I haven't read in a certain number of months.

I think I have only ever had one book that was of quotations. I don't know if you are old enough to remember Saturday Night Live when Adam Sandler and those were on it but they had this segment that was called Deep Thoughts by Jack _____. ( Can't think of the last name right now) I had a book that was Deep Thoughts. I loved those because they were funny but they also made sense. I don't have the book anymore though.

Yes, I am old enough to remember when Adam Sandler was on but I don't watch too much SNL.
It wasn't Jack Black was it?

They seem like very cherished items for you. I feel like quote books take up space on the shelf where other books could go. I do like to read quotes but I prefer to do that online.
If the internet ever stopped working I guess I'd go to buying them.

I feel like you find more online than you do in individual books. Someone recommended writing the quotes down in a journal. That's a good idea and there are so many good journal books out there.

I wouldn't like to buy a book that only has quotes in it. But if I have to buy it, then I will.
