I would wish to be well enough to not be put in care home. I went on a trip to Egypt in April 2017. When I came home with my two children we found out my mother had been put in a temporary care home. Over the next few months went to several care homes. At one of these temporary homes she fell over and broke her hip. She was put in hospital and had a hip operation. She was put in temporary care home overlooking the sea. Near their front door they sold crafts the old people living there had made. Then she was put in a permanent care home. It is in a hilly area and it difficult for me to visit. I find the hills exhausting. I visited her on Friday and she was sitting in the lounge. It was lovely to spend one hour with her.

I know it must be hard for you...
My grandfather started to feel bad and we found a care home for him just a few minutes from our house.
so it was really good being with him. we even brought him home sometimes to eat and sleep with us for a night or two.
In that period it's very important to see them. make them feel like we're still with them and not like we just put them in a care home and forgot about them. I know that part was really hard on my grandfather.
I wish you and your kids could visit your mom more frequently and be with her.

It was really glad you found a care home for your grandfather a few minutes from your home. When my mother was at one of the temporary homes we could take her out in a wheelchair to a park where there was a duck pond. Now she doesn't go out at all. It is sad because of the hilly area.
