You've got to love when the e-reader you bought goes dead.

Well.. It was charging but then I stopped charging it to try to turn the screen on. The screen keeps flickering but won't turn on. Trying to reset it / restart it doesn't seem to work either. It might be the battery. The only thing I can think to do is try to replace the battery. That won't be for awhile though as I just don't have the money to set aside for that. I guess I'll be using the kindle app on my computer until I can get it fixed. Did I mention I'm still making payments on the device? *goes to check about a warranty* These things happen. I could get upset about it but I won't.

Umm.. i miss the "old days" when we had books you don't have to charge. It's pretty futuristic I would call the store i bought it from and check for warranty or if they have any service that can fix it.

I bought it from the amazon site. I am going to check my warranty after while. I do have physical copies of books. I've been writing here on mylot about all the good deals I've been getting. There are still some authors that only publish to e-readers.

@Ntan822 Books have been burned as a means to stop knowledge for many years. Of course, for all books to be burned would be scary indeed. I guess I am referring mostly to authors who write short pieces of fiction, novellas that aren't really worth trying to publish otherwise.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Amazon is pretty good when it comes to broken goods. Check with them earlier than later That's weird. Why would they do this?? Books are.. books! They belong on paper. E-Books are fine but publishing ONLY to e-readers is annoying. I saw not long ago the movie "Fahrenheit" and it's about a "new world" that operates only online. and they burn all the books. That movie is pretty scary when you think about it... give you perspective

I would check the warranty. There is an app for the phone as well. That is what I used before I got my kindle. Mine is running pretty well so fer. But mine is years old and I bought it used.

Mine is the Kindle Voyage. The screen won't turn off, I can't get it to reset at all. The screen "flickers" but won't respond. I have a tablet I could put the kindle app on as well. I might do that as the screen is much bigger then my phone.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Have you looked up troubleshooting on it? I don't think I ever used the Voyage, so I don't know if I am going to be much help. But I'm sure that there is something online that could be help. I used my old tablet before I broke it to read a lot, it was actually bigger than the Kindle I have now.

@thislittlepennyearns The only thing I could find to help was how to replace the battery. I tried using different terms "Flickering" "glitching" etc but it all came to the same or similar pages. I might try later. It was charging before I took it off the charger (and I always take it off only after I've "ejected" it from my computer) so maybe it will charge again later? I don't know.

Gee ... That is never good. I know when I buy things anymore like Computers, etc I usually buy them from Best Buy since they have Geek Squad and often offer the Best warranties. But even then you can never guarantee everything is going to be OK. But I have never used any of my devices for reading, as I prefer a Good ole book

Oh what a bummer. I would get the Kindle Fire if I were you. I have had it for years with zero problems.

I think I will eventually invest in it. It might make me use a tablet more often. I have a tablet but I don't really use it all that often.

Check the warranty. I hope its nothing major and can be fixed easily. I have the Kindle app downloaded on my phone as well. Can you do that?
