"Be loved by God" A message from Saint Francis

I felt at a very deep level that Saint Francis himself was talking to me

Last Saturday, I was in Saint Francis's Catholic church in the city, in Melbourne here, in Australia. I saw a statue of Saint Francis of Assisi in the church, and I asked him for a blessing. I knelt down on the knee resting pad, which is provided for parishioners to use, and which one is located, behind each row of wooden seats. Then, I heard him say very clearly, and distinctly, to me, "I am you, and you are I, but I am not greater than you. Be loved by God." Yes, we are all loved by God, and we are all each other within God, so he is right, I late thought to myself. Saint Francis is me, I am he, and no soul is greater than any other soul, fundamentally so. "Lord, grant that I might not so much seek to be loved as to love." This is a great Saint Francis of Assisi (1182 to 1226) quote. This is not to say that we should not seek God's love though, because we should seek God's love, to find it. This sentiment comes from this most comforting of Bible Verses, that is found in Saint Matthew's gospel, chapter 7, verse 7. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." So yes, seek and you will find, but having once found, do not hoard it up as an empty stone in your breast to carry along with you, give each blessing of God's love to you back out to others, as love, as well. I felt at a very deep level, that Saint Francis's soul itself, was talking to me, and that he gave me this message.

You can ask for such a blessing wherever you are, but being in such a Holy place does seem to be conducive to bringing them about more too, I think.

I've visited Assissi, a pretty town in Italy as a tourist, not a believer.

It's funny, when you are in "Holy" places, sometimes an experience like this comes out of the woodwork to bite you with itself. Something similar happened to me several years ago now too.

@innertalks Nothing bit me and nothing will ever bite me. I've been to many holy places in my life, several times to Rome and the Vatican. Once to Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

@MALUSE I have heard some people catch what's known as the Jerusalem Syndrome when they go to the Holy Land.

That is what life is about in essence. I believe there is no duality; we are one and the same, sparks of creation. We should never hoard and keep to ourselves more than absolutely necessary for survival; the rest is to be shared. What is given is a blessing and sharing is caring - siva

Yes, sharing is caring. Thanks siva. We do need to care with our whole self though, with our hearts, and with our minds. Nothing should be shut off within us, that prevents us from caring and loving ourselves, others, and of course God.

@Shiva49 Yes, we need to rise up with love in our hearts, and not with the hot air in our ego. Our consciousness will always naturally be raised the more we do this too, and live only from love.

@innertalks It requires a bit of change in attitude to raise our consciousness to feel one with the creation and the creator himself - siva

Yes, it was a very beautiful, peaceful place. You really feel at peace there. We can feel a connection to something greater than to just ourselves, in places like this, I think, and so we can say to Jesus Christ then. "You are all I am to me, because you are all I am to thee".

Some people will believe this type of experience, others won't. I just told it how it seemed to happen to me there.
