Did My Blender See Its' Last Smoothy?

My husband wanted a protein shake. I was more than happy to make one for him. With his choice of fruits and the right amount of protein protein added to the blender, we were all set. No problem so far. I shut off the blender then tried turning it on for just a few seconds to give it one final mix and ...... nothing - no power. I thought it was dead. The indicator lights on the control panel were all blinking at once. Oh well. I had a very good blender for about eight years or so. I suppose it's time to shop for a new one. Thankfully, I didn't throw any of the parts away because the very next day, we were up and running without any issues at all. Without actually doing any type of formal diagnosis, I'm about 99 % certain that there was a little power surge. A light in our utility room was acting up at the very same time. The two outlets are very close to one another so I believe that they are on the same circuit. Now both the blender and the light are running just fine. Hopefully I'll get another eight years or more from my blender. After an ordeal like this one, I probably should give the blender a name. Any suggestions?

You certainly are handy! I would have tossed it and bought a new one.

Often times, making rash decisions gets you into trouble. Thankfully I didn't make any rash decisions about my blender. I'm still regularly using it several times a week.

It was good that you didn't throw it out and gave it one more chance. A name? How about: Old Dependable? Fireplace, since it wasn't out for good? Hopie, because there always hope? Blendie because it's a blender? Sparky, because there still a spark in it?

I'm glad I didn't throw it away either. Thanks. Thank you, too, for the names list. I was actually thinking about Sparky when I first made the post. O.K. Sparky it is.

The last blender I had started smoking and it over heated. You might as well buy a new one.

The only thing I don't mind seeing smoke is the grill. Every other appliance smoking must be replaced, no doubt about it.

It's good you didn't get mad at it and throw it straight out!

Oh my, yes. I thought about throwing the parts away but for some very odd reason, I wanted to wash them first. Thank goodness for odd reasons. By the time I washed everything up and put it back together, I was back in business.

@betlynfrnds That is fine with me since Sparky fits the name like a T.
