When it comes to washing your clothes:
Do you send everything to the cleaners?
Do you wash anything by hand?
Do you throw everything in a washing machine?
Do you have any time-saving tips or shortcuts that same time and make washing clothes an easier chore?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tips:
* Wash your socks and underwear every night
* Buy all your socks the same color
* Never buy anything white

I know some people that let the cleaners care for everything and yes they have money.

I buy plenty of things white, they are easy to wash in the washer, the colors many times fade. I bring nothing to the cleaners. I wash by hand silk blouses and underwear and nylon women's socks. I also wash by hand Cashmere and wool sweaters.

@1hopefulman I learned in school, this was part of we learned when I was young, to clean the house, to wash the laundry, to dress the table and to plan the meals.

I have lots of white clothes. Lol! I send most of my clothes to the dry cleaners, because they are silk, linen, and/or lined. Our new washing machine and dryer do about everything else. Some things do need to be hung to dry. I do a load a day.

Wonderful! I can see that the way that you do it is not much of a chore or a time waster but still needs to be done.

@DianneN Ouch! I don't think that bouncing down a stairs with a basket of laundry is a good exercise routine. I think you should find a better of way of staying in shape.

@1hopefulman I find it relaxing and fun, especially with the new machines. . My husband insists on carrying the laundry baskets up and down the stairs, because I once tripped and bounced down the stairs.

@Nevena83 I see! I don't have anything sensitive. I just throw everything in the washing machine in one load.

@1hopefulman I'm washing a wardrobe that is very sensitive and I'm afraid the washing machine does not destroy it.

I use the washing machin in my apartment, but like to hang the clothes to dry - in Winter they make the air more humid.

@1hopefulman Sometimes it is an adventure. Especially if I'm taking my grandson around to take care of his needs. Though, I won't complain. Anytime I can spend with my grandchildren is worth it.

I like those tips!
Sometimes I wash by hand, if I want something clean right away, or if I'm "disinfecting" something, or it's new or can't be washed by machine.
I rarely send anything to cleaners.

Thanks!
I rarely need to wash something by hand.
If I didn't have suits, I could manage all by machine.
Do you hany tips you could share?

@1hopefulman About the only tip I can think of is that - I do like the $1 store "LA's Awesome" laundry detergent. It really does a good job cleaning for only $1 too

I do my own wash no cleaners, no short cuts. If hand washing is needed I do that. I separate darks and whites, dress and casual, and do towels with my white socks. Upon reading back my response to your question and realizing how time consuming this chore is for me I think I might start using the cleaners....
