do you have an emergency go bag.
This is something most of us should do.
With so many Storms,tornado,rain,etc.
What happen if your house got hit by one of these storm.
Got me thinking.I do not have an emergency go bag.
Think about it.Investment,Banking,will,etc.
Just in case all important papers do not get lost.
Put all them in your bag.Place it near exit so your ready to grab it.
Think about that huge wildfire and how many people lost their homes.
Did they thing to bring important papers with them while fleeing.
Think about this.

@amadeo Not currently.
I see it as the first step in prepping...originally I thought prepping was somewhat stupid now I don't and am very interested in the subject.
I should be prepared as it's not just natural disasters it could also be financial meltdown or computer failure etc.
I've watched quite a few documentaries on this and they all say the first step is a basic go bag.

We do have an emergency survival kit here.
As well we have an emergency-first aid kit.
We have a small filing cabinet for our hard copies that we need to have here at home.
And just to err on the side of caution, our son has a set of keys to our place-just in case.

@amadeo Oh, I'm sorry, I misunderstood.
We have our quarterly statements on our investment accounts all in a binder.
Our son knows the location of it, and we've gone over it with him.
The investor has the important paperwork along with our lawyer.
And our son knows how to access what he needs to in case of an emergency.
Since he's an only child, we have asked him who to consult in the family for help if we are ever on life support, and he needs to figure out what step is next. And We've also suggested another family member to him to help him with putting together our arrangements. And we've talked to these family members that he may have to reach out to them in his time of need. Which we hope doesn't happen anytime soon, but you never know. We just cannot bear to think of him making all of those decisions without talking it over with someone close that knows us all and loves us.

Most everything I have is online, or filed with the doctor's office. Should I lose my computer in a fire, no problem, it's backed up in a way I can access everything no matter what computer I use. The only thing I would probably need in my 'go' bag would be a toothbrush and change of clothes.

@amadeo It depends on where we live as to what to place in that bag.

One of the advantages of being poor--I have NOTHING to lose (unless you want all my "A Chorus Line" memorabilia!?!?!) but each hurricane season I do have basic requirements if I am out of power for a week.

No. Leaving stuff by the door is not gonna happen here. In the closet, yes. I dont have one ready to go but I have been working on that this year. When I did a paper clean out I put many things together.
