I think this is a famous dish with a terrible name Actually saliva chicken is steamed chicken with chili sauce. I don't know why it has such a horrible dish name. It is a dish from Sichuan Province.
I haven't tried it before because I seldom see it here. But I think I will enjoy the spicy flavor from Sichuan and I probably will try to make it by myself one day

Logically, then, you wouldn't want to eat vermicelli ('little worms') or linguini or a number of other kinds of pasta. In England we have 'toad in the hole' (actually sausages which are cooked in a pan and then have a batter mixture poured around them which cooks and becomes crisp in the very hot pan)

I know 'spit roasted chicken'. Is that the same, do you think?
Actually, I do know that it really means 'Mouth-watering Chicken' and it does have some hot (especially Schechuan) spices in it, though chili is not really traditional. I would be quite happy to follow this recipe, however:

@youless Yes, they are, of course. The idea of 'Chicken that makes the mouth water' is just expressed more concisely in Chinese but if you translate it literally into English, it conjures up ideas of chicken chewed by someone else before being served to you! Even though that was (and still may be) a common way of weaning babies and of feeding old people in some cultures, it sounds repulsive to Western ears.

@owlwings The chicken that makes your mouth water. Your explanation sounds reasonable.

Is there some reason for the name? Like it causes a lot of saliva maybe?
