Third Place by Luck

Last week we had the Intersite Sportsfest where all the company branches were competing. I represented our site in Chess because I won in our branch tournament. But the Intersite tournament is a different level, players are extremely more competitive. I know it will really be hard and I am not expecting to win. The format is there are two players for each branch, board 1 and board 2. I played on board 2. There will be First, Second and Third place for each board. There is a clock for each game which was set for 10minutes. I am not good in timed game because most of the time it takes me a long time to think for a good move and 10 minutes is too fast for me. What happened was, as expected, I lost my first game, against the former Champion who has also been the Champion for this year tournament. Supposedly, there should be five players competing, but one of the branches didn't have representative which happened to be my second game opponent. So I won the second game. And the other player lost 2 games, that's why automatically, I got the Third place. Haha. I was really been lucky. It was the first time I experienced that.
