Do you believe in your gut feeling?

When I set foot at KIX, I suddenly felt something bad would happen. Must have been the warm, sticky air that met me when the revolving doors at the arrival hall opened.
Usually it would take me no less than five minutes before I would spot my luggage at the carousel. But this time was different. All the other passengers had left but my purple luggage was nowhere to be found. Worst.feeling.ever.
A kind airport staff approached me and I told her about my missing luggage. She asked me to wait as she checked her computer. The wrenching gut feeling, sinking my resolve. In halting English, she told me that my luggage wasn’t ‘there’ as she went about explaining the many forms I had to fill out and documents I had to sign. I had many questions but I just followed her lead.
A male staff came with another unclaimed purple luggage and asked if it was mine. Nope. Too purple. Would it be possible that someone got my luggage by mistake? They said it can be but they got a call from Cebu Pacific confirming that my luggage was still in Manila. I didn’t know whether to feel relieved or to start cursing the airline.
The staff said something about paying money and I thought what?? I’ll pay?? Then she gave me 4,500 Japanese yen inside a crisp white envelope. For what? She said because I’m ‘empty handed.’ Okay. Thanks for the compensation, really, but right now I need my luggage.
They said it will be delivered to my house two days later. Sigh. Whatta mess.

maybe the money was for essential things you need to buy and use for those 2 days.

Those things happen from time to time with planes. Many times they will give you some money for a change of clothes.

Did you accept the money? I hope you did not sign any waiver for that.

It happened with me while I travelled to USA by British airways. My luggage was in UK while I came to US. It took two weeks for it to reach me at my place in Phoenix. They gave me two sets of TShirt and toiletries kit for compensation.

@sol_cee I used to stay in Phoenix. So my wardrobe had my clothes to manage with.

I hope they will send your luggage back to your home. I have good instincts, too.

@sol_cee This has never happened to me. But I'm sure you'll get your luggage.

I had that happen to me before when I was on a long-distance trip, but the airline never offered me any money to help me replace items that were missing or to help hold me over until my luggage arrived. I had to go two days with wearing the same clothes until my luggage finally arrived at my hotel. It is indeed very frustrating.

@sol_cee Delta Airlines. Which airline was it for you?

That's not a good business practice although that airline charges lower than the flag carrier, so they say.

It was nice of them to pay you and still return your luggage, but I'm sorry for your inconvenience. I have learned that whenever I go against my gut feeling, I regret it, so hopefully I'll listen every single time!

That's quite a frustrating experience Madam Sol but I'm glad you arrived safely. Considering that Cebu Pacific acknowledged that your luggage is still in Manila, it gives some relief although that is an inconvenience for you. Welcome back to Duhaka :)

@sol_cee As long as you arrived safe and sound and in one piece, that's some relief.

Yes and I a lucky and I do not travel anymore. If I want to see something I will see it here in Israel and come home the same day. I will not travel overnight without my cat and she really does not like being around lots of people so I prefer I go and come back the same day.

Sorry, about your luggage. Yes, I do have gut feelings but they are not always right.

only about US$ 40 ? gee, what can you do with that amount? buying an invisible suit?
Re: gut feeling, yes, I have that very strongly even if I didn't believe in superstition. Say, I joined a company recently, everyone asked me if I liked that place (the place looked rich, people looked saintly), yet I only felt dread for some reasons. I couldn't understand it. I found out right the week after what went on: the work colleague who is assigned to work with me side by side, happened to be a lunatic who is doing her best to discredit me. How to deal with crazy and irresponsible people who would do anything to get you? (God so far hasn't answered me this question yet! Is he with you at the moment? Can you ask him for me? )
