What do you do with socks who's elastic is gone?

The elastic grip on socks do tend to go off with time. Do you still wear them after this. I find I can still wear them with pants as they usually don't show the loose socks. I don't know if they can be fixed. What would you do?

Well I think that is a sign that you need to retire them and find a replacement for it. It is so annoying that your socks slides back and you have to pull it out every now and then. Remedies I see when I was a child was placing a rubber band at the end so it will hold on to your legs. But that is aesthetically not good to look at. I think you can always recycle those old socks in to something like a rag so that you can utilise it pretty well.

I do give up after a few tries. Newer socks are more comfy. I've tried the rubber back thing when I was a child.

@rsa101 the rubber bands used to leave a deep groove on the leg. Was always afraid it would cut off the blood supply to the feet!!

@pitstop True new socks are the best of course. It still is nice and comfortable when you wear them. The rubber band remedy is not really for the adult ones. That is why I wouldn't recommend that one. I think you really need a replacement for that.

I throw them away because it means it's time to buy new ones.

That sounds like a way of fixing it. I'd rather buy new socks though.

I don't know if it can be fixed, I'll advice you buy new onces because you might be embarrassed one day if you are a office person.
