Hi friends and friends to be. My name is idongesit Okon, from Nigeria. I heard of mylot today from a friend and I researched about it by reading some article online. After registering it landed me here. Bit I have some questions like. How do I get followers? Who should I follow? How do I determine which tag to use in a discussion? Did anyone felt the same way I am feeling? How do I start?

Welcome to myLot. Enjoy the site!
The first step for all newbies is to read the Guidelines to learn what is allowed or not on the site. Then you can write a post introducing yourself. Tell us a bit about yourself.
Furthermore, read around as much as you can, Like and Comment on other members' posts. Only then will members come to your site and do the same. This is called interaction.
Don't expect too much money-wise. If you reach $5 a month (the payout limit), you can call yourself lucky.

The number of followers means nothing on this site. What you need is members who come to your site, read and like your posts and comment on them. Then you can earn something. But as you've heard, in Nigeria you can't get the money from paypal.
You can write a post on your country and then you use the tag 'Nigeria'.
You write about a special food, then the tag would be the name of this food, etc.

You don't need to follow or be followed. It is not like Facebook. What you need is people to 'interact' with your discussions, responses and comments. You will find that people are more likely to interact with your posts if you spend quite a lot of time responding to and commenting on their posts in an intelligent and (hopefully) useful manner. This doesn't earn you anything directly but the more 'social' you are with others, the more likely it is that they will be 'social' in return. You should take care to read the Guidelines and other pages in the Help section. They will tell you a great deal about the way things work here.
Unfortunately, because you are from Nigeria, it will be impossible for myLot to actually pay you. myLot only uses PayPal and, although Nigerians can open a PayPal account, they can only use it for making payments. They cannot receive payments in PayPal.
You can, however, enjoy the discussions and the social interaction, as many do already.

Thanks @owl. Then I think I should go to the guidelines first.

You have gotten the best advice possible here. I do not know what to tell people from Nigeria. We have had some interesting members from your country. Some people continue to participate, allowing their bank to build, waiting to see if ever there will be another option.

@heather. It like you just read my intention. Nigeria may not have a PayPal but I'll continue. I'll continue anyway, maybe there will be a way to cash out. But I won't just give up. At least there are other benefit here like: meeting friends around the world without having to search like facebook.

Just share your ideas. Start topics anything under the sun, as long as it is not violating the guidelines coz it will be removed. Browse for discussions and comment on those topics that you find interesting. You can follow anyone, and if you will keep on responding to discussions, you will also notice that more and more people will also follow you. Welcome to myLot.
