Thinking Back To My School Days...

It won't be long before the kids are headed back to school. And then yesterday, I saw the new Staples "back to school" ads which lead me to thinking about how many schools I actually attended over the years. As for public school, I attended 4 of them in 4 different towns. Two I loved and two I hated. Luckily for me there was just one high school. I can't imagine leaving one high school and then having to make a new group of friends. High school can be stressful enough without having to move to a new one! How many times did you change schools and do any stories stand out in your mind?

@Hate2Iron It seems that there is always one. It was a private school run by nuns, sort of Gestapo there.

One thing that stands out in my mind is a crazy ex bf that I had. He started threatening me with notes saying he would kill me if we didn't get back together. The last day I went to that school I opened my locker and a knife came flying at me! My parents took me out that day and put us in a private school. The last 2 years of high school I went to that private school. When I first walked into that school I felt God's peace come over me-I felt a HUGE sigh of relief come over me. I felt the same relief when I decided to Home School my own children. =)

@Hate2Iron It was a scary thing to go through, he needed help and I hope he got it. That experience and many other reasons is part of why I chose to Home School. =)

Before college, I had gone to three different schools, but one school I attended for only one semester, so that doesn't really count. They were all Christian schools.

I was all over the place during those years. I luckily made friends easily and one friend in particular was very welcoming to me when I had to change one time at high school level. We wound up skipping school and walking in the beautiful woods around the school.

The first school for 5 years, and all the rest one year each. My favorites were the 1st and the 3rd!

I attended 6 schools, 1 in Massachusetts for 1st through 3rd grade before my family moved home to NC. In Wilmington I attended 5 schools in 9 years and never moved house. It was the 1970s and court ordered busing and desegregation were the rule of the day. Our high schools then were only 10-12 as 9th graders went to school at 9th Grade Centers. I remember bomb threats, false fire alarms, and the possibility of KKK demonstrations on the school campus when I was in Junior High. Those were anxious times, but the threats were external, not like today when kids shoot up their own schools.

@Hate2Iron I think the lack of a 24 hour news cycle and social media back then actually kept us from being as scared as we might otherwise have been.

Fro, kindergarten to 6 th grade I went to one public school. During the 6th grade, there were teacher strikes and my mom put me in a private school for grades 6, 7, and 8. There ai met, my two lifelong friends. We all went to the same high school and are still in touch today. So that makes a total of three schools before university.

I never had to change schools. Thank God bc I know how scary that probably would be. New school, new teacher's, having to make new friends and etc. I feel for the ones who have to do that due to their parent/parents being in the army, military, etc.
