I don't know is it simular in your country, but here people go abroad very often so they can earn more than here and have job. And it's most common for very young people to do that. My brother (cousin) went to America 4 years ago, and today I saw him again after such a long time. I'm beyond happy. Didn't even know he will come today, it was surprise. So good to see him again.
Do you have any close family members that you haven't seen for years?

In mauritius when some goes aboard and come back to visit the island they are too pround of themselves. "You know my son doesn't understand creol anymore you have to speak to him in english" ARE YOU KIDDING ME. He was born in Mauritius he was 14 when he is left and you lived their for 8 months and he doesn't remember his mothertougue he has been speaking since he knew how to talk.
Hate these kinda people.

Hahah we have that here too, but just as joke, so whenever someone goes to live in capital city (for study, work) when they came back (even if its after couple weeks) everyone tease him/ her "Oh now he/she is "beogradjanin" (citizen of capital city). Like they changed and forgot where are they from :D

My 26-year-old son is in the Army and stationed across the country in Alaska right now. I have not seen him in over a year and he is not coming here on leave this year. I am not sure about next year. I do miss him but I am glad that we can communicate on Facebook and by phone. I am glad you got to see your brother (cousin).

Awww that is so nice that you finally got to see each other after so long. I haven't seen my youngest sister and her family in over five years.

It's way too common here too. A lot of people go abroad for greener pasture. None of my siblings are abroad as we are well off and don't need to earn from another country. I have cousins who migrated there though and some are citizens of the foreign country already.

@frenki i understand because a close family member of yours has been away. I'm happy you've been reunited. Did he bring presents? (kidding)
