My best friends dog passed away two days ago. He was really old and having seizures so they had a feeling he was going to cross the rainbow bridge soon. I spoke to my mom about it and asked what she would do if my cat (Petunia) passed away. My mom said she would wait until I come back home to tell me. Since I'm in college that could be between 3-7 months. She was surprised to hear that I would want her to tell me right away.

Yes, you should be informed right away, not 3-7 months later. I agree.

I want to know right away if that will happen. Before when my dog passed on my dad and my mom has no plans of letting me know about it right away and they said they will just let me know once I am all well. Because I jusg gave birtht to my first born that time. Good thing my uncle told them that I should be aware of it right away to say goodbye before they buried my dog.
