South Australians have their own Great Wall of China in the Flinders Ranges

One of the attractions in the spectacular Flinders Ranges National Park in South Australia was a geological feature known as the Great Wall of China due to its resemblance to the original. The rocky ridge is a ‘must-see’ feature of the area and if you have enough energy to climb to the top the views are stupendous. We didn’t climb to the top but we still enjoyed the view from the car park. It does look a bit like the real Great Wall, doesn’t it?

So why not call it "The Great Wall of Australia"?

I think the Great Wall of Australia would have been a much better choice. Unfortunately they didn't ask me.

It does indeed. The gorges in this area were really something.

There isn't much more to find out about it. I battled to write more but there didn't seem to be much more information.

Yours is like a natural formation that looks like a wall. It is not man made but was carved by mother nature. Anyway it’s an interesting view and would be good place to visit in your area.

Is it naturally there or did someone build it? I assume it was built?

No, it's natural caused by the softer rock eroding away from the harder inner portion.

So China built a Great Wall of Australia ? Another proof that Chinese are copycats!
