Who need a left flip-flop ?

When you buy shoes, shopkeepers are insisting to sell you a pair. This is annoying when you are a one-legged person, quite a discrimination. The largest online selling site in France, Le Bon Coin, has actually an offer for a left flip-flop. Not the pair, only the left shoe. The seller specifies : «One-legged, I use only the right ; I sell the left.» Why wasting a new shoe ? He bought the pair for 17 Euros and sells the left flip-flop for 4 Euros only. If you know a one-legged needing a medium-sized left flip-flop, this is a deal !

I see that the same person is also selling the left shoe only of an Addidas Terrex pair for €7. He clearly goes hopping rather than jogging One wonders how, as a pianist, he can operate the 'sustain' pedal at the same time as the 'soft' pedal. Perhaps his page turner does that for him!

@topffer I didn't know about a 'piano' (specifically 'un piano de cuisson') being also a large oven. One learns something new in the most unexpected ways! Could one cook a choux [pastry] in such a beast, I wonder?

I saw that too, and at first, with the user name "pianiste75" I thought that it was a joke, 75 being the postal code of Paris and Limoges being in the center of France. But when I saw the other offer for an Adidas shoe, I realized that it was serious. A possible explanation is that this pianist may be a cook, a "piano" being also a large oven used by professional cooks.

How about the poor people whose feet are different sizes so they have to buy two pair just to get one pair. There needs to be an association for all these people so they can swap shoes and save money.

@topffer Actually, nearly everybody has feet which don't match exactly in size. One foot is always just a little larger than the other. Usually, the difference is so small that it doesn't matter but occasionally it requires as size larger.

That's weird, @MALUSE already posted a response about people with different feet sizes, and I did not knew that there were such people. I learned again something new today here.

@topffer I know one of mine comfortably fits in my mouth (I hope you know about 'putting your foot in your mouth' meaning you say something you shouldn't). My neighbour always said her husband only opened his mouth to change feet!

Thanks for making me smile and there are many people with only one leg and with some you would never guess if they are wearing trousers or those legging things. The story of their Dad´s being in the same condition is not something you hear about very often.

@topffer In the end love that attracts brought them together coincidence or not I guess we will never know. Their love story would be a best seller and never a flop.

Sometimes reality is wilder than fiction. Nobody would believe the story told by JJ if it was in a novel.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I will do the devil's advocate here. It happened during the 19th C, at a time where love marriages were rare. The joint interest of their fathers was more important.

With online facilities those who have this issue could form a global club and have a connection with shoe shops who can help with the co-ordination.

He should join a "one legged club" and find if there is someone with only the left leg. It is important that they wear the same size of shoes.

I do not know if such a club exist already, but it can be a good way to find your other half... or your other foot.

Yes, and if they cannot sell the remaining shoe to another one-legged person, they may sell it to a three-legged.

I know someone who has one foot a full size larger than the other. Makes it difficult to find comfortable footwear.

You are the third today to speak of it, and I did not knew that there were people with different feet sizes when I started this discussion. Personally my feet are 43 1/2, French size, and the 1/2 cm is available only from a few luxury brands, so I have to buy 44 most of the time.

It sounds gross, but after thinking it over, there should be a less expensive way to buy shoes (shoe) if you have one foot.

An online shop for one-legged people ? I imagine the requests : "Have you the left for this model ?"

If this person can find that one left-legged buyer - with the exact same shoe size and the same shoe style taste, they could be shoe partners for life !

@topffer I told Hubby about this - and he laughed. It just so happened that this weekend he went with his mother to my sister in law's as they had to shop for their wedding ceremony outfits. My husband picked out shoes, but the salesperson could only find 2 right feet of his size in a box. I told him perhaps a bad dancer bought the left ones (some guy with 2 left feet ).

@much2say I think that you are right somewhere. I dislike to spend too much time in a shop, and I am the kind of person who buys often shoes without trying them. Somebody will certainly have a pleasant surprise when finding 2 left shoes in a box.

There should be shoe shops that sell shoes, the left or right, for the one-legged people. That would be a right thing with a human touch to do.

I have never heard of such an offer but seems quite reasonable as one pair is a waste for the person who is one-legged. In India too a one legged person is forced to buy a pair. I'm though not very familiar with this subject as I have not experienced it. But I feel the seller did it right as it will save his money as both can share the cost. Good idea for a person who is burdened with expenses.

It is happy for you that you did not experienced it. I agree with you, it is better to try to share the cost. However, due to the low price of this shoe, sending it would cost as much as the pair.

People don't always think of this, but sometimes only 1 of a pair gets lost, damaged or worn so it would make sense to just replace the shoe that is damaged.,rather than get a whole new pair.

ouch, only flip flop??? I wish they would sell gardening gloves for right hand only. I have about 7 left ones here, all in good conditions, but not a right hand one without giant holes on the big thumb!

I have the same problem with working gloves, the first to die is always the right hand. We should find left-handed people to exchange.

I think they should be selling for people with one leg as well. Let's say someone has left foot sell him the left shoes and someone with right foot then sell his that right side. Simple and easy but yes they won't do it.

The problem is that the the seller would probably never be able to sell the other shoe. Maybe a shoemaker can do that.
