What is love?

August 11, 2018 10:20am CST
So today my niece visited me. She is 7 years old. We were watching a film together in which the actor says "I love you" to the actress. My niece was puzzled. She asked what is love? I replied, love is the most selfless and purest emotion in this world. Love is never-ending dedication, blended with lifelong care and fondness. She said, so you mean my mother loves me. I said yes that is the love which is in the purest form. The only love with no expectation and judgement is the love which we receive from our mothers (parents) if we are lucky enough to have them around. She paused for a minute and thought about what I said. She got up and ran back to her mother to say "I love you".

That is good to heart that as young as she is, she has understood the meaning of love and even applied it to her mother. I just hope that she could retain the idea.

I think love needs innocence. Once we grow up we fear rejection and loosing people we love. Hence we tend to distant ourselves and end up making mockery of our love relationships.
