Good gloomy Tuesday to all of us from this side of the globe.
Has anybody among you take maintenance medicines? Do you take a whole tablet, or do you take half a tablet or a pill?
I have a tablet that should be taken half of it twice a day. It is Carvedilol 6.25 mgs - half every morning and evening. Aside from that, I also have Spironolactone 1/2 tablet once before lunch.
This morning, I used the pill -cutter for carvedilol. Since this tablet is so small it resembles a pill, one half was complete while the other half crushed. The spironolactone too, it pulverises so I halved the tablets with my fingers.
It is so difficult to take a medicine that is ordered half the stock available.

@ridingbet He goes to the doctor next week. We grind the pills and mix them with his food. One morning pill is so stinky that we put it in a pill pocket and give it to him with a couple of treats. Our other cat is terribly ill. She has a sarcoma and has a second vet appointment on Friday. We hope it can be removed - totally. Doodles senses it, and sleeps with her now.

by knives, the tablet might not be halved equally. that is why i still prefer the cutter.

@ridingbet They made the pill smaller so you do not have to cut them in half anymore.

@ridingbet I have no idea because my brother took care of the doses and he brought the pills to my mother, he was her doctor. I knew that he was very concerned about the doses and how many times a week she had to take medications and there were food rich in Vitamin K that he said she should have not eaten.

@JustBhem yes it is expected that medicines for a person on hemodialysis and have chronic kidney diseases are expensive, that may be the reason why you have to be interactive here everyday.

Right now I only take medication for high blood pressure, but I take the whole pill. I did take some half pills at the beginning because I suffered a few side effects. A pill cutter would have come in handy. Half my pills shot across the room when I used a butter knife to cut them and who knows where the hell they are...
But the cat did act strange for a little bit...

hahaha! really? but i hope your pill or tablet does not make your pet hypotensive (low blood pressure).
we have a cutter and that could be a substitute for the pill cutter.
