It's the seventh day of the seventh lunar month and it is the date where Chinese especially in Mainland China will be celebrating the Valentine's Day or Lovers' Day.
Every couple will be scrambling for a movie, dinner or sending bouquets to gifts. Since yesterday being the weekend, activities of various has been bustling. My husband made reservations for the whole family to have dinner at a local restaurant famous for their Peking Duck last night while tonight we will be dining at a new western restaurant (just the both of us).
So how about you? Do you know of this day? Do you treat other days instead of Valentine's Day - your own Valentine's Day?
Anyway, happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Our Valentine's day is the same day as most of the people here celebrate - February 14. And during that time, restaurants are so full of diners. Some women will be carrying a piece of red rose, while others have a bouquet of roses.
Me and my husband do out for dinner. So does, our daughter and her boyfriend in Manila. Sometimes, my in-laws would treat in a restaurant for all of us, daughters in laws and our husbands, their sons, along with their gay son.

Some times I really feel that these special occasions though are good to have could also be otherwise. I am sure you will see that the prices for everything goes up to unrealistic highs. Restaurants get filled up like they are giving away free meals and the flowers, I really hate to see them littered in the bins or roads.
I am not going to discount that it is really a happy occasion. But I prefer consistencies and who is to say that we cannot have one's own Valentine's Day every other day or better still every day? Any way I hope this day will also bring forth another special date on your calendar in the near future. Have a nice weekend.

@artemeis TRue. Restaurants , malls and flower shops take Valentine's day as an opportunity for their businesses.
Well, it only comes once a year, but the choice is ours to spend on restaurants or just be at home and be romantic watching love stories on TV while eating a specially cooked dinner.

so it's not a fixed date like february 14th? the seventh day of the seventh lunar month can fall on any day of the week? it's not a non-working/no-school day?
this is the first time i've heard of china's lovers' day and wonder why other mainland chinese mylotters didn't post about it. i think it's great that you have one family and one couple celebration. what is the cuisine of the new western restaurant you're going to try?

Chinese still observe the dates on the lunar calendar for occasions like the Spring Festival (Chinese Lunar New Year), Dragon Boat Festival, Mid Autumn Festival and so on. Since this calendar is rather different from the commonly used calendar the dates will seem to be "not fixed" just look at the Lunar calendar and you will find that it is quite fixed.
We are going to the steakhouse near his office. It is quite new and the magazines are giving rave reviews about this restaurant.

This just shows how times have change and commercialism being the catalyst for changing the trends. I feel that this change is also quite good considering that it is helping couples with their relationships. On the other hand, traditions like embroidery and sewing will be lost.

Nice to see you ! It is great you celebrated the Lovers' Day with hearty meals, both Chinese food and Western-style food. However few people my age make much of the Lovers' Day.

@artemeis Thank you ! It was only in the recent years that the seventh evening of the seventh lunar month was used as the Lovers' Day.Before that ,we just knew that women would be handy with a needle and thread ,if they did needlework in that evening.

Happy Valentine's Day.
I try my best to make the love between me and my wife like a flower, which must be watered every day. This can be done with simple things for some people, but that make a lot of difference in a couple's life.
