It was sad to hear this news this morning. I looked on you tube and played "Til you come back to me" and then when she sang "Natural Woman" at the Kennedy Center salute to Carol King. I had tears in my eyes watching that. It made President Obama wipe his eyes too.

Yes,Charlotte Rae was older,and also didnt want to focus on having cancer.

It's sad yeah, but I'm not that surprised. She has battled health issues for years. And she had a long life..

Was it cancer? Three of her siblings predeceased her succumbing to the big C.

A very sad day indeed. It is interesting that she came from Detroit but she was not a part of Motown. She signed with Atlantic. But she was UBER talented and to call her just the 'Queen of Soul' does her an injustice. She was way more than that. May she rest in peace.
