What Does Home Mean To You?

Home is an interesting word that means different things to many people. Surprisingly enough, there are people that make no distinction between house and home. To them they are one in the same.
To me a home is where you feel safe and protected. It is where your loved ones are. It is a place where you can be yourself and know people will still love you.
"Home is where you hang your hat", a quote that many of us have heard, says it best.
"Home is where the heart is", is a quote that describes how I feel about my home.
The quote "Home is not a place, it is a feeling", is the quote that I relate to.
A true feeling of home is one where your loved ones are by your side loving and protecting each other.
To me, home is anywhere I am with the people I love.
What is home to you?

If we are speaking of the immediate shelter, then that is what home means to me at this time. To be not living on the street is so valuable and I do not take home for granted any day ever.
If I am speaking of home in the past, it is a place I long for, long before the immense and horrid problems of life came to exist, a place of comforting love and safety.

Home is my escape, privacy. Mine and no one else`s. Its funny that since I moved and did not tell anyone where I moved to, I am much happier.

@Mavic123456 I think all of us have a time in our past that we wish to be involved in again.

For me the best place to be in is at my parents' home.
I got married and live at my own place now, with husband and our children. Yes i have my own home now. But it will never be the same.
Every now and then, i sleep over and those are still like coming home to me. Every time.
Those are the times i feel really really really at home.
My mother passed away about 3 years ago. And there is an irreplaceable emptiness.
I still visit my father, never the less.....

Home is where my family is. Without them, it's just a house, a mere shelter.

home is where I am living if I'm happy there. When I stay in hotels or hostels for a week or more I think of them as my home until time to return to my actual home

Home to me is as Billy Joel sang in his song, "Wherever we're together, that's my home." Wherever my wife and I are together, that place is our home for the time we are there.
In 1981, Billy Joel released his first live album titled Songs In The Attic. Listen to Billy Joel perform the track 'You're My Home' from a live 1980 perform...

I like that "home is where the heart is" making a house a dwelling with feelings and memories. When I think back to my childhood home it brings back feelings of warmth and love and when I think of the house my children grew up in it makes me feel the same way.
I'm hoping my current house is "home" to everyone and is warm and welcoming.
