Communism Will Never Work

Let me start off by separating communist theory with communist history. The idea of communism versus the historical practice of communism. I actually do like the idea of communism. The tyrannically murderous dictatorships of communism that we have seen all over the world I do not like.
The part about communism I like is sharing. Everyone participates and shares their income or whatever so that everyone has the necessities of life. I believe that food , shelter, clothing, education, and transportation are necessities to live, and that they are a human right. No one should be without any of these.
I know it sounds like some communal hippy nonsense, but I really do like the idea of it. I'm the type of person that is happy with the basics. As long as I've got food to eat, a place to sleep, and something to entertain myself with I have no problem with giving my money to people who have none of those things.
And that is where my support of communism ends. The idea of it. I would never support a communist government. Why? Because it has never worked and it never will. Why? Because of greed.
Just look at the greed in the US alone. Our government collects trillions in taxes every year. There is more than enough to pay for all these things that socialists are always talking about like "free collage." Yet we are constantly in debt. Why? Greed. Politicians pocketing billions and drain the funds.
And you want these people to handle even more of your money?
No thank you. I can distribute my own funds. Government needs to keep it's hands off of our money.

One of the conundrums of a true communistic society is that everyone has to be willing to always put forth their best effort on behalf of the group and, eventually, those who work hardest will realize they are carrying the weight of those who could work harder but won't. At this point the whole system begins to break down as more and more people become willing to make less and less of an effort but still expect to receive just as much benefit.

You're right on there. I think most people out there marching at these rallies waving communist flags have no intention of sharing or contributing anything. They're just looking for a free ride. But there's no such thing as a free ride.

But there are always people taking advantage of sharing the wealth. The hard worker pays for the lazy person. Is that fair to the person paying taxes who sees a person on the news bragging about buying lobster with food stamps?
