Why does marriage couples look alike after a long time relationship?

When ever I take a careful look at my mom and dad, both of them look like an identical twins. I didn't do science in school, so I never know what could be responsible. Majority of marriage couples do look alike after a long time relationship. Seriously! What could be responsible for this resemblance?. Could it chemical, biological or spiritual reaction. Mylot what do you have to say about this?

Heh. I've noticed this too. I've read that we tend to choose people similar to us in as many ways as possible. But married couples do look and act more and more like each other (often) as the years progress.

It should be the rule, when two people look like they can live together much better, if they do not look like each other, then the problems come when the other wants things in their own way and it is not done that way.
