A few days ago, we sat outside on our terrace. A big cockroach flew over and sat on the wall of our house and started to climb up. A lizard appeared from the roof, observed the cockroach, slided slowly down the wall and, once close, made a fast movement and caught it with its mouth. Then, it waited a few seconds until the cockroach stopped moving and disappeard again on the roof.
It was the first time I saw a lizard hunting its food and were really surprised.

Oh wow! I didn't know this too. I know lizards eat insects like mosquitoes but I haven't seen a lizard gobbled up a cockroach.

Most lizards like a variety of insects, including roaches and sometimes even moths or small butterflies. It's really neat to watch them hunt. I always fed my lizards crickets, but a lot of the people in the Facebook groups I belong to are partial to using dubia roaches and mealworms.
