Encouraging TV

There is so much doom and gloom these days it can be difficult to find a good show that every family member can watch. Well, a couple of weeks ago I started watching "Making It", a show about people who love crafts. I'm talking serious talent. These people can make stupendous things with wood, paper, felt , cloth, and so many other items. When tasked to make a children's fort one woman used pool "noodles", sewed "sleeves" on them, and used them to form a fort in the shape of a rainbow.
Any Poehler and Nick Offerman host, and the prize is $100,000. The things they make are fun, but also some are highly sophisticated. The best thing is that every contestant is friendly, and they root each other on. One of the judges oversees Etsy, so they know their business.
So many of you make amazing things like @Debscrochet and @Jillhill. I like to share these uplifting shows, so I thought I'd pass it on. It has already been renewed for season two.
Do any of you have uplifting shows to recommend?

My little son and I love that show! They always have those cooking competition shows, so it's about time they had one for crafts! I love dance too - and out of all the ones out there, I really like So You Think You Can Dance . . . I enjoy the various choreography and wish I could be out there myself .

There was a show on about six years ago called Craft Wars hosted by Tori Spelling. It was a sad excuse for a craft show on TLC. It is nothing like Making It. It surprises me how long it took to get a show like this on television. Speaking of cooking, do you ever watch The Great British Baking Show? It's pretty encouraging too. All of the contestants are nice, and the hosts are funny. They have previous seasons on Netflix.

@AmbiePam I heard of Craft Wars but never bothered to check it out - I don't really care for Tori Spelling - somehow her name and "crafts" don't go together. Oh yes, The Great British Baking Show! They had an American version too (not sure if it's still on).
I forgot to mention American Ninja Warrior . It is an athletic competition, but I love how everyone cheers each other on - always a friendly competition!

@AmbiePam I like the back stories they show of the warriors . . . some come from difficult lives . . . they are up there doing their warrior thing for such great causes! Ohhhh, I'll have to look up what happened to the American version of the Baking Show . . . that's sad!! I'm trying to do a simple search on a Tori Spelling craft . . . the focus is never on the actual craft - it's always "her" - so I have no idea what kind of craft she actually promotes .

That sounds like a great show! I can't think of a positive TV show but I know Pureflix is kind of like Netflix--except without any garbage on it. I'm never worried when my kids want to watch something on there. I don't have it right now due to lack of funds but when I can afford the $12 a month again it's SO worth it.

I've heard about that show, but am not into crafts and such, so haven't watched it.
But you are right, there are a lot of crafty people here!

Making It is pretty good, but I find myself losing interest about midway. It is a good little summer replacement show though.

I am not actively watching TV these days. Yet I watch travel shows on a channel Travel XP.
They show varied travel from places in India to Europe to America.
A recent show on Belfast and another on Bratislava were great!

I haven't watched that show, but it sounds wonderful. I'm not into making things, but do appreciate seeing them. I only watch a couple of shows in the summer. Now, it's Better Call Saul, Suits (because my son is a corporate attorney), and Sinner. I can't say they are uplifting though. Lol

Oh that's awesome.
You are right, there is a lot of negative in the world. Nice to know you found something positive. I'm happy that the contestants are nice to each other and you are right. A lot of people can do amazing things with items like - a dish soap bottle, 2 sticks and some string, lol.
Uplifting shows... well, I do like Youtuber "Tommy Edison" he's a blind man and he answers people's questions about anything and everything to do with blindness - he has a really positive personality
Also on YouTube Michael Jamison and his tigers. He talks about life with the tigers and then, somehow infuses it with his own greatful, positive outlook

I've seen a few episodes of this show and it is very uplifting. I know Etsy is a huge place to set up shop and sell crafts/handmade things so the fact that one of the judges is from Etsy is a big thumbs up.
