The Last Day of August!

Hello everyone, this year is flying by. It is already the last day of August. I cannot believe it. Its Labor Day weekend and pretty soon Fall will be upon us. All of that hot weather we have been complaining about will be replaced by the cold air. Well, I don't think I will be complaining but the kids will.
This week has been hectic. The first day of school went well but the bus ride home did not. All three of them were drenched in sweat when they got home. Their clothes were literally soaked with sweat. They got severely overheated on the bus. This lead to Adam having a migraine and it messed with all three of their sinuses. I am shocked that the twins did not have an asthma attack. I had to take them to the doctor on Tuesday. I am afraid that Lil Keith suffered the worst. He was severely congested. With some TLC and Benedryl they were all three cleared up and able to go back on Wednesday. I spoke with the bus driver and she moved them closer to the front of the bus to be near the AC and she had the windows down when she dropped the kids off. Apparently, it takes the AC on the bus quite a long while to get the entire bus cooled down. So that is a good thing. Now they get a 3 day weekend and they can recuperate a bit before heading back to school.
I made the mistake of getting near cigarette smoke on Wednesday. It sent my allergies over the top. I was very sick up until today. I woke up feeling much better and I was actually able to sleep last night! So, I hope that I will be back in full force on here this weekend!
Hope you have a great last day of August!

@JohnRoberts yes, it is right around the corner and I have been trying to get ideas from the kids about what they want to dress up as. Lil Keith needs a new costume. He has outgrown any we have at home. Adam and Elijah could pick from Iron Man, Batman, and the Hulk.

@rebelann I don't think they have much of a problem with the heat. I guess all of the body heat on the bus helps to make everyone warm while during the summer it hinders the AC effects.

@rebelann We get more ice than snow. It does not last as often for us though. We are still a southern state.

First of all--and I know you don't want to hear this--the older you get the faster time goes!! Also we make it go faster talking about 'pretty soon Fall' and Halloween (see John below) and I bet before the month is over someone will mention Christmas!!!
All the more reason I live for today and don't think or worry about tomorrow and what it might bring.
Sorry about the kids having to suffer coming home from school--hope the move up front helps but I hope it doesn't get any of the bullies started and you know some kids will pick on them and call them names so I hope they are prepared for that.
I am so glad I am not a kid!!!

@GreatMartin I think I have already mentioned Christmas below! Thankfully, no bullies so far this year. Of course, it has only been one week.

@DianneN Yes and the fact that so many people are crammed on the bus. You know they all must be hot and that makes the bus even hotter. The bus driver did address the situation so I am happy. I am glad that the weather will be cooler soon.

@DianneN Yes and I will be very glad. In my opinion, it is easier to protect from the cold than it is from the heat in my area.

@Shellyann36 I'm glad the bus driver addressed the situation, too! And yes, the weather will eventually get cooler and more comfortable for bus rides and all of us!

@Courtlynn the bus driver addressed the issue that very afternoon. She lowered the windows and moved the kids up front to be closer to the AC.

@Courtlynn It does but at the same time at least they are getting more air flow through the bus. It might be hot air but it is at least passing over them some and the people in the middle and the back of the bus are not benefiting at all from the AC.

@Shellyann36 that's great. but doesn't the windows open, defeat the purpose of the ac.?

I'm happy you feel better today. I would rather have warm weather, unless trapped on that bus. They should install some fans or something, geting that hot doesn't seem safe

@FayeHazel we are very fortunate that both of the twins did not have an asthma attack or a mild heat stroke. It is all settled now thankfully.

@YrNemo Its ok, we all forget a day or two every once in a while. I can't remember the date unless Keith and the boys have to go to school and work. Sometimes they just run together for me.

We have had such a wet humid summer that I am grateful for any hot days. Today looks gorgeous. I need to mow the lawn later and will enjoy the sunshine on my shoulders. That is really awful the kids came home drenched in sweat. That's scary. Hopefully the bus driver turns the bus on long ahead of time now to cool it down before any kids board.

My allergies aren't affected by smoke form any source. When I went to school out buses didn't even have air conditioning so your kids are lucky there. We'd get overheated at school for the same reason, no a/c.
How old is Adam? I can't imagine having migraines already as a child.
Hope you're all doing better this week

@sallypup Yep, I was sad that it was only the 2nd day of school but I can't afford them really getting sick. The smoke is so much my enemy!

@Courage7 Oh yes the bad part sure did. It still itches from time to time when I am out in the heat too long or if I get stressed out. It is far better than it was during the flare-up. It is to the point that I can almost forget about it. I am still keeping my doctor's appointment though.
