I bought a little jug

When my husband went to Nepal a few years ago I took the opportunity to clear out a lot of cupboards and drawers. I went through almost every storage area in the house and was able to donate or toss out many items which we no longer had any use for.
I had some pretty cup, saucer and plate sets. Any that were missing part of their set went in the op shop box (op shop = thrift shop). I was surprised to find that a favourite Royal Doulton ‘English Roses’ set was missing a saucer. I couldn’t remember breaking it. After much soul-searching, I decided the cup wasn’t any good without the saucer so the two items went in the op shop bag. Needless to say a week later I found the saucer.
I went back to the thrift shop but the items had already been disposed of. I was very disappointed as I had really liked the little set. From time to time I’d kick myself that I hadn’t waited another day or two before disposing of the pieces.
Yesterday we called into an antique fair just to fill in some time and one of the items on sale was a small Royal Doulton English Roses jug. It didn't take me long to decide it had my name on it. I bought it and will now stop fretting about the cup, saucer and plate. This little jug was made in England. Nowadays the same pattern is made in China although it still carries the Royal Doulton tag.
The green jug and saucer in the photo is one my mother china painted. I love the shape of both of these.

That means you have 'tray' service which means you have the teapot, sugar and milk jug system in your house We no longer do that. The tea gets into a flask and we do add and sugar from the sugar tin and milk from the milk vessel.
No time for what we used to do in the good old days - no maids to fuss around.

@JudyEv Tea sets are now adorning our show case and so do dinner sets and a whole lot of glasses meant for different things

@allknowing We were given a lot of different types of glasses as wedding gifts but we don't use them all.

@JudyEv - How adorable! I have also given things away before, only to wish I had kept them. However, I can't keep everything!

@DeborahDiane It's sitting on top of a china cabinet at the moment. I like to switch my bits and pieces around from time to time. It makes me take more notice of them.

They are very pretty indeed. I have some blue willow patterened mugs and plates that look something like that. They were made in England.

The willow pattern is very popular. There was some of that for sale at the fair too.

I love Old Country Roses. I have some plates, cups and saucers and a tea pot with creamer & sugar bowl in that pattern.

Those are lovely little jugs. Too bad everything is made in China now, but you were lucky to find one that was made in England. Probably don't see that much anymore.

@JudyEv I just assume everything is made in China nowadays. It is a shame. Even our American flags are made in China.

Adorable. Special your mom painted the green one.
I love thrifting, too!

My conviction is that if you throw something away you haven't used in decades, you'll need it the day after it's gone.
