I certainly hope the county has no emergencies this morning

This image shows only about half of the emergency vehicles lined up to be in our little parade.
They are from several spots in the county.
That would be disruptive if they were "parading" and got called out.
The trucks and volunteers are an important asset in our rural community. They stand between us and disasters. I appreciate them all.

There is probably more of a chance of a fire for the 4th celebrations. We had rain last night so we are good in that respect. I guess it is good to have them on hand if someone falls off a horse, or a float.

@Courtlynn Most places don't. Around here each little community has its own holiday festival.

So many rural communities it is all volunteer. Our sherriff gets paid, and the police, but not the fire and ambulance.

@JudyEv A huge portion of our volunteer firefighters are from one family here. They take training and go to school for doing it.

Hopefully they have a day of rest and aren't called out.

I think they had a day of fun. Many of them belong to the same family.

It is good for the emergency services to get the recognition and praise they deserve. They are the ones out cleaning up road debris, clearing our roads from dangerous situations, helping us when we are sick, protecting us from harm.
I'm glad you were able to go out there today and witness the parade. It seems like it was a nice day for it.

Actually we watched from our lawn chairs on the front yard, under the shade trees. The start point is right across the street.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yep, that one is mine. The field across the street was the football field when there was a high school in town. Now it has 9 holes of disc golf, is used to fly kites, and people take their dogs there from time to time. I can see pretty much clear to the horizon. And another highway, if I stand up. I love to watch the clouds roll in from the north. My view is north and slightly west and the sky gets lit up a beautiful pink.

@GardenGerty Oh well that was convenient. I saw the mailbox in your photo but wasn't sure if it was yours or if it was someone else's.

These were from our town of 425, and from the next town and then from several outlying towns in our county. No emergencies that I heard of.

I did not hear of any so perhaps it was all good.
